si7ver5un
Hello I am a new PA (been practicing for 1 year). I'm very interested in doing medical missions, but i've been working strictly as a ortho surgery PA. I absolutely love my job, the surgeons i work with. But I feel like i forgot so much medicine already!! I graduated last year and have been working for a year. I thought after a year, i'd have enough medical knowledge to feel comfortable working in free clinics. But the free clinics i tried to volunteer at don't have people to supervise... I guess I thought there would be a supervising Physician there that you report to, almost like clinical rotations. I don't feel comfortable diagnosing the patient on my own without discussing it with a Physician, not because of me, but for my patients sake. Sometimes I feel like I don't even know what labs I should order! :( I really want to do medical missions, but i feel like i should feel pretty comfortable seeing patients here first. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!! Sincerely, Ortho PA who wants to do medical missions
