TWR
I havr seen all the statistics on what PA's make in the various specialties but how many of us know what we produce for the practice? Are we being compensated fairly as one might be in a different profession. I am sure many of us feel it is not enough but what should one be paid if they bring in $50-$500,000 a year? KMD16
A very hard question. In medicine, no one is compensated "fairly enough" across the board.
TWR
I am not a believer in unions but this is the kind of thing that would address. PS the actual number $450-500,000. I also introduced immigration physicals to the practice which was a huge money maker, guessing but at least $100,000.
delco714
I get an exact breakdown of what I make the practice..so far double my salary. Don't forget,a lot of the job, at least for surgical subspec is freeing the docs to do other things that get them to be more productive! TWR
I think what would be fair is the following, 2 1/2 times the salary is what should be expected. Then anything over this should be a 40/60 split. PA/DR. you could do this by paying a salary and every 6 months evaluate the money and pay out accordingly. IMHO example 100,000 salary, bring in $500,000. after deduction for 2,5 salary then $250,000 split 40/60. PA/NP $100,000, DR $150,000 plus what they do on there own. The 2.5 represents all costs for the practioner. Is there something I am missing? I think our problem is we are afraid to negotiate. After working in a practice for one year, the practice can see what we do. They have achoice. negoiate or let you go. Many will terminate you but they will have to retrain and patients need to re acquaint themselves with a n"new" practitioner. It is a gamble but if more of us did it we would get what we are worth. Happy employees make a prosperous practice.
