After reading a few of the entries on this discussion, I was amazed at everyone's educational/service background. Needless to say it is a competitive career; how are some of you not getting accepted with these backgrounds?

I was just accepted to the U of MN's Educational Administration program but have always had an interest in working in the medical industry. I have a few experiences working as a caregiver and at a Public Health Dept., where I did my undergraduate practicum. I currently second-guessing my MA decision and am planning to take prereqs and work PT with direct care.

I have a BS degree in Human Dev. & Family Studies so I don't have much coursework in Bio/Micro/Chem/math classes--practically all the required prereqs for most PA programs, though, I do have course work in general Bio, etc. Has anyone ever been a "non-degree seeking" student at a 4-year institution for the sole purpose of knocking out the prereqs? If so, how long did it take for you to complete? Did you have loans available to you?

I am an independant student, 31, and have been looking deeper into this new career. I hope to gain any insight from anyone on this website. Thanks in advance!
