VAgirl89
I have my first degree in Human Development around a 3.0 GPA.My second one will be either Respiratory therapy or Athletic training. I enjoy both aspects of each major as fall back degrees. I honestly hated my prior major which is why my GPA is only 3.2 right now.Which ones would PA schools like to see more if down to a choice between another applicant?I have a 3.2 GPA currently and am aiming for A's and B's from here on out.I have roughly over 2900 patient contact hours. Moderator EMEDPA Posted May 4, 2014 Moderator Share Posted May 4, 2014 if it was me I would prefer RT>AT.
SHU-CH
Truth be told, it probably does not matter all that much. Programs generally like to seat a diverse class and having all bio majors all the time is a little boring. We have had a bunch of ATs and RTs through the program. For what it is worth, it is very rare for either to struggle.
KMD16
^ Agreed. Diversity is the key word.
lov2xlr8
RT, great critical care experience, lots of hospital hours (though 2900 is a lot compared to who you will be competing with), and you'll be able to save up some money before PA school. We had an RT in my class who was able to per-diem 1 weekend/month, she was awesome.
UGoLong
Pick the major that leads to a job you would most enjoy doing if you don't end up being a PA.
