Were you accepted to another school or was there something that you found out that put you off about this school or campus?

Both :) nothing wrong with the program I'm sure.. But for me; I couldn't get over the fact that the program uses instruction via live feed for some of the classes (a lot if your at their satellite campuses) ... I figure with the amount of money that you're paying for school the least they can do is give access to real instructors. IMO

That and I realized that Miami might not be the cats meow as far as living situations go...

I was also accepted elsewhere :)

I have an interview at the St. Croix campus on September 26th.  I wanted to see if anyone has made travel arrangements or have heard of any suggestions on where to stay. Thanks :)

I received an interview invite last night for St Pete Campus on Sept 19th!

My app was verified and sent last week to St Pete campus, how long did it take for you to hear from them that they received yours?

My CASPA was verified on August 4th for the St. Pete campus and I still have not received a confirmation email that my application is under review.

My application was confirmed on 8/11 by Barry, and I received an interview invite yesterday for the St. Pete campus!

When was your caspa verified?

So frustrating.. my CASPA was verified in June and I haven't received a single email or notification from Barry.  I have called countless times, every number, as well as contacted them by email for the past six months.  Not once have they answered/responded until today.  They just happen to tell me that my application has been placed on hold because they need my international transcripts from studying abroad for 6 months and to pay for them to go through a translating service even though I received no grades through my university, just credits which are stated on my main transcript.  CASPA didn't want my transcripts and no other schools so this is extremely infuriating.  At this point I am just cutting my loss and not wasting another cent as I am too disgusted with the program now.  So heads up to anyone who has any international classes even if they were not counted..your app is on hold!

Who were you able to speak to about this? This may be the case for me as well.....I'm sorry! That must have been so frustrating to find out!

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Interview last year was very laid back and starts with an informational session. Then you break off into groups for a discussion. Next you do a 15 min individual interview, q&a session and then lunch with current students. Overall not stressful. Dress is business professional. Hope this helps!

Hello everyone! So, I am very thankful to have gotten into both SBU & Desales, but I am struggling to decide between them... Stony Brook is in-state for me and 15 mins away from home, so the tuition is significantly cheaper than DeSales’ ($53,000 as opposed to DeSales’ $79,000), and I wouldn't need to pay rent.

I am struggling because even though SBU would be much cheaper overall, and has an excellent reputation and ranking, I just did not feel like I connected with the faculty there, and I wasn’t very excited after the interview. Even though the programs are both 24 months, SBU seemed more rigorous and fast-paced. The students at SBU also seemed a bit older, which makes me feel like I'd be the inexperienced one of the bunch. Another concern is that I don't really want to live at home. Living with my family would save me money, but it may also drive me crazy with the added stress of PA school ? I would most likely want to live on LI no matter what school I go to though, and so going to SBU may make it easier to get a job in the area once I graduate. SBU also ends in May, which I've heard is better for new PA grads in terms of job hunting.
On the other hand, DeSales is a bit more expensive, but definitely not as expensive as some programs out there. It has clinical experiences during the didactic year, such as a student-run free clinic and shadowing that I would not have at SBU.  I also really connected with the faculty there and could picture myself going there and being happy. DeSales also had a brand-new, huge simulation lab that the PA students get to use a lot. DeSales is also one of the only programs in that area, you get more one-on-one time during clinical rotations, whereas w/ SBU, you’re with other LI PA students and med students.

      Some stats:

      PANCE 5-yr pass rates: SBU-97%, DeSales-100%

      Class size: SBU-44, DeSales-80

Campus: SBU-within a hospital & affiliated w/ med school, DeSales- w/in an undergrad campus

Both have full cadaver dissection labs

      Electives: both have 1 elective

Start date: SBU- June, DeSales- August
PBL classes: SBU- have only about 4 of these activities throughout didactic year, DeSales- small group class discussion twice every week throughout all of didactic

Overall, the main things that would drive me to go to SBU are the low cost and the ranking. Otherwise, I like DeSales more. Some insight on this dilemma would be much appreciated!!

Can someone explain why Stanfords tuition is 160k for the program? Am I reading this wrong? What makes this program so much better?

FYI for my prior service colleagues: I’m in the process of finalizing, but it appears you can use 100% Institution of Higher Learning GI Bill benefits (not the “apprenticeship” 80% and tapering pay) during residency. I’m choosing to use the Montgomery GI Bill since it gives more money than the BAH of post 9/11 for my area, and with no tuition it’s all money in my pocket. Really going to help make up for that income loss.
Note: HPSP and those who direct commission with loan repayment cannot use the Montogomery GI Bill, only HSCP recipients who paid in. Another reason HSCP is better, in my opinion.

Recent applicant accepted to multiple NC schools. Wondering if it is worthwhile to attend some of the private, high-ranked schools or if it makes more sense to favor in-state tuition, especially with sights set on primary care?
Schools I applied to: Duke, Wake, Campbell, UNC, ECU
Would appreciate insight into any of the above programs, and whether the private schools really do give you a leg up!
      Thank you!

      Hi everyone,
I know this is a sensitive topic but I need sincere input to see whether anyone has actually declined USC admission for other local schools such as Western University or Loma Linda. I have read many posts about choosing the cheapest schools but living in such a competitive job market like Orange County, I feel like USC name can help us finding a better job, is it true? I know USC has the best PA program in Southern CA but its tuition is almost double that of other schools and is 6-9 months longer. Since I am married with one kid and paying mortgage, my future disposable income maybe too limited to cover the additional tuition of USC compared to other schools, although my husband is emotionally supportive of either choice.
Your experience and advice are highly appreciated. Thanks!
