Moderator ventana Posted March 28, 2014 Moderator Share Posted March 28, 2014 I don't - for that matter I don't collect copays - I let the billing company handle it BUT I have a single payer practice in that I only take MEdicare

cupojava
I'm in FP. Yes, we do this. They are told at check in by front desk staff. If time permits, billing verifies the previous day if deductibles have been met. If not, they put an alert in their chart and are then told at check in. If they have met the deductible, only co-pays are collected (up front for most of them). If new patient, the staff checks/calls their insurance to see if deductibles are met once they present to the clinic and we have their insurance information and are then told that they would be expected to pay up to that amount today. For Medicare patients, every January, their deductibles are collected. Most of them do not know of the $147 deductible yearly.
