patachok
Hey, fellow students and everyone else who has a great input! Can anybody recommend books that might help with forming DDx based on a presenting symptom, or case books, or something down that line? I would appreciate any input that you might have! Thank you
UpRegulated
Symptom to Diagnosis: An Evidence-Based Guide (Stern, Cifu, and Altkorn) is pretty decent. Not exhaustive, but a decent start and an easy read. Good book, especially if the natural flow of developing a ddx based on CC/HPI is an area of struggle. It is case-based too, BTW, organized around CC.
jlumsden
There is a series called Case Files that was recommended to me by a PA I've shadowed, published by McGraw Hill. They are divided into various subject areas, such as Family Medicine, Psychology or Neurology. A series of cases are presented, and they walk you through the clinical reasoning needed to make the diagnosis. The writing is very clear, and while I am learning, it feels a bit like I am doing recreational reading. I'd recommend them.
