It also states that the admissions committee reviews applications on a rolling basis.  Also, I received an email from Monica stating that there a limited seats left.  Possibly 13 if I'm mistaken.

Why would there be limited seats remaining "possibly 13" when interviews haven't even occurred yet?

I have no clue about Heritage in particular, but I've heard that other schools typically interview three applicants for each spot that is available. So, I'm guessing that somewhere 90 and 120 people will be interviewed in total. Also, I suspect that since Heritage is a newer program, whose first class hasn't taken the PANCE yet, applicants might be a bit more hesitant to attend if they have the option of going somewhere more established. Given this suspicion, it wouldn't surprise me if Heritage errs on the side of interviewing a bit more applicants than is typical.

I was offered an interview, and I honestly have no clue what to expect from it. I do plan on telling them that, should I be offered a spot, I will accept and put down a deposit the same day. For a lot of different reasons, I've had my heart set on attending Heritage since I first learned about the program last year. It's far and away my first choice of program!

RealWayPA,

Some would say that Heritage is not their first choice, but you say it's yours.  I did not go to an informational meeting this year for the program, but was wondering what reasons the school offers to make it your first choice?  It is my first choice as well but looking to see how others feel and why.

I LOVE how their clinical training is set up. You go to a rural/community hospital and then basically rotate alongside their providers. In that context, it usually means you'll see and do a little bit of everything all the time because they don't have a ton of specialists. Plus, my bachelor's degree is in Native American studies, and I want to eventually work with Native American populations as a PA. Heritage seems to have a focus toward working with underserved populations, plus its proximity to a reservation is a plus for me. From the very little that I've interacted with program staff over the phone and through email, the've been quite helpful and prompt in answering my questions and talking to me about the application process. Thus far, I have really good vibes about the program...just waiting to interview now!

What about you?

Coming from the city and working in a rural area for the last 14 years, I agree that you are exposed to more, providing a wide range of knowledge.  We have a Native American population here in N. Idaho, so we are exposed, but I don't think as much as over there.  I do agree with the underserved population because many of the areas around me fit into that category and I want to return here once I graduate. They have a strong teaching background is another reason I like their program.  Because they are a new master's program I feel many don't know the background of the school.  Like you getting excited for the interview.

Any folks interviewing on the 24th want to get together the night before? Any advise or insight from those who already interviewed on the 10th? Thanks!hi

Hi GT107,

Congrats on getting an interview on Jan 24!!

I was one of the candidate that had an interview on the Jan 10.  The interview process is an all day thing, so there a lot of time for you to meet and get to know your fellow interviewees. But for the interview itself;  there are 3 separate interviews plus 1 group activity and a short writing section. You are grouped with two different candidates for each of the interviews.

My advises would be:

1. the most important is to be yourself and be confident in your answers

2. get to know the other candidates, especially the ones you are interviewing with.  Because that way you will be more relax and comfortable knowing that you are going in with colleagues instead of strangers during the interviews

3. don't give the committees answers that you think they want to hear, they want to get to know you

But other then that, relax and enjoy this opportunity.

Best of luck on your interview!

UWgrad,

Was the writing section another essay type question or a different type of writing exercise and about how many of your were at the interview on the 10th?  TIA

The writing section was a short essay, which you have 30 min to work on.  I think there were 44 of us.
