RCKimeryJr
Hello everyone, I will be applying this cycle for PA school and was curious if emailing a program to introduce yourself was a good idea or not? Any insight on this? As always, thanks for your input!
Latina PA
I think is best to introduce yourself in person and not via email. See if the school has an open house and attend that or if they give campus/program tours and try to book one. Then while at the campus introduce yourself. NathanLe
I'm sure you'll hear different opinions on this one. I'll say this- PA programs are incredibly busy, so keep that in mind. It's not uncommon for one person to be in charge of going through all 1,300 applications at first. So, if you have a legitimate question that you can't find an answer to elsewhere, ask them. But I wouldn't contact them just to shoot the breeze. Your application and interview are where they want you to shine.
wjm7
I agree with the above. Asking questions is an important part of the process of deciding what school is right for you. You might not hear back from them (because they are busy and might ignore it or forget to respond), but I doubt anyone will find a legitimate inquiry overbearing. I wouldn't, however, email them JUST to introduce yourself. Strategically, I see no problem with coming up with a good question that would allow you to introduce yourself. But you need to ostensibly have a different reason for emailing them besides an introduction.
