3ubba
So I'm currently scribing in an ED, and have been doing so for the past 6 months. I already have HCE as a physical therapy aide and also as an EMT. With those two combined, I have roughly about 2500 hrs, and then about another 350 hrs volunteering in an ER where I got to help assist with procedures and stuff where I probably should not have been able to:=-0:. I left my EMT position because it started to stagnant and the scribe opportunity kind of fell into my lap. But I was wondering if it would look weird that I went from having hands on patient care and then going to pretty much a paid shadowing experience where I really don't have much to do with patient care. I think that all of my jobs have added to my resume. PT aide first introduced me to 1 on 1 patient interaction, EMT allowed me to critically think about another person's well being, and now as a scribe I am learning an immense amount of information that could be of great use in the future. Moderator EMEDPA Posted August 3, 2013 Moderator Share Posted August 3, 2013 should be fine as long as you are not counting on using the scribing as hce hours but as "health care related" experiences.
MikeyRay
Absorb as much as you can! The fact that you have transitioned into different roles proves you are a multi-faceted person! Everyone is unique in their experiences and you can work that to your advantage when the time comes to stand out (application). You did a great job of explaining yourself in your second paragraph - Pshh, you got this! Don't stress!
