Hi everyone, I had my interview today! I was very nervous and there were some things I wish I had done differently, but overall I think I did ok. I know I definitely did my best. Now it's just wait and see I guess :)

Good luck everyone!! I'm hoping to hear back something soon!  It's been a long wait since Oct. 9th.  But I guess no news is not bad news?

At least I hope not.. lol

Hi future PAs :)

Just to let you know, I'm a first year at UTMB and am part of the student panel that you guys will meet if you are interviewing tomorrow.

Just wanted to give some words of advice. Believe that from the moment you step onto campus, your interview starts. Every person you meet is a potential person that could impact you. Also keep in mind the student panel is still part of the interview process. Yes, it is more informal but we are still looking at you each individually. Make sure to be a part of discussion and speak up! We are there to get to know you better as well as we want you to ask us questions.

I look forward to seeing your smiling faces tomorrow! Good luck! "And may the odds be ever in your favor!" (Go watch the Hunger Games by the way, it's awesome! :)

Do you know how many spots are left by any chance?

Congrats! I interviewed that day too but not have heard anything back yet. Hopefully that's not a bad sign.

I have yet to hear anything from them about an interview or anything...I dont know if I should call and check with them or what! They had "lost" my application until I called about a month ago, but still have heard nothing. Should I call them tomorrow?

Darn, I got waitlisted. I'm #33. I guess that's not horrible for my first try. Does anyone know what position in the wait list they got to in previous years?

how'd you know you were waitlisted?

I got an email telling me I was put on the wait list at 4 pm today.

Congratulations!

They went through their whole wait list last year which I believe was about 50!

Oh gosh really? Thank you! I was feeling a little sad about my spot #33, but now I feel hopeful again :) When did you find out you were accepted off the wait list?

@paigems I was accepted in October after my interview date but my friend is a first year at UTMB and she said they went through a lot last year. The school posts the wait listed number that they are accepting on their web page under prospective students. So you'll have a better estimate on how many people are in front of you! Good luck!!

I got wait listed as well. I'm in the 60s though.... A little disconcerting... Anyway I can't see on their website what number the waitlist is currently on. Is it even posted yet?

I imagine the waitlist numbers may change as well? I mean if someone was offered a spot on the waitlist and an acceptance elsewhere surely they would take the acceptance elsewhere, moving the numbers around? This is my first time dealing with stuff like this so I'm unsure about some things.

Hi PAs as Pre-PAs: I am fortunate enough to say that I have a choice of PA programs to choose from- Emory and Duke. I have visited both schools during the interview, and both are impressive. I’ll be moving with my husband, who will need to find a job wherever we end up, and it seems like Atlanta may have more opportunities for jobs in his field (landscape architecture). I’m thrilled but a bit stumped as to which to choose. I’d sincerely appreciate some insight from those that are familiar with the programs. What would be on your pro and con list? Thank you!

Hello future classmates!  Just thought I’d get this going so we can get familiar and bounce ideas off each other.

Hi everyone, I wanted to start this thread early so we can share our experience! Goodluck!

So my graduation date is slowly approaching, and I have been looking into becoming a PA for the past year or so and I have decided I want to go for it. My question is not about classes or GPA but just about the timeline in general about how and when to apply.
I am graduating Fall 2018, so my main question is, should I wait to apply until I have actually physically graduated and apply for the 2019 cycle? Or can I begin applying next year in 2018 since I only have one semester left? I remember in high school, we can start applying for universities during our last year of high school, so I am wondering if it works the same way for this? I have searched everywhere, and all I get is general deadlines, nothing as specific as my question.
      ANYTHING HELPS! Thanks!

      Hi all,
I'm currently in the interview process, and I'm somewhat confused about how to manage acceptances (should they come...). My first interview is in a week, the next one is in 2 weeks, and a top choice program, which I haven't heard back from yet, doesn't start interviews until late-October. (Still waiting to hear from a few more programs, too.)
So, do prospective PA students in this position just make deposits as necessary to hold places in programs they're interested in as acceptances come in, if they're still waiting to hear back from their first or second choices? Is it really disrespectful to accept an offer from a program, make the deposit, and then change your mind, or is this just an expected part of the process? If I'm offered an October interview for that top choice program, I could theoretically end up paying deposits to 3 separate programs, which seems absurd... Granted, the chances I'd actually get 3 acceptances are probably low, but even 2 would be tricky.
      What am I missing?
      Thank you :)
