  1. My name is Mahlia, this is my 3rd time applying to UW and first time being invited to interview. I would love to get to know some of my future peers and fellow interviewees through this forum. I was also wondering what the interview experience was like for those who interviewed last year via zoom. Was a same small group interview style used? Looking forward to hearing from you all.
  2. Hello everyone, I am currently in the process of applying to cardiology jobs. I'm finishing up school in NC and applying out here as well, but ideally I'd like to end up back home in the Seattle/Tacoma area after graduating. I do have a few leads, including an initial call with a recruiter for one of the larger hospital systems later this week, but I am wondering if there are any cardiology PAs here practicing in the Seattle/Tacoma area who would be willing to share any insight about salary, the different hospital systems, current job market, etc.
  3. Hello, I am currently residing in Bellingham Washington. I am eager to get some shadowing experience prior to applying to PA school this year. I have received both covid vaccines, and would love to shadow in person. Please let me know if you have any ideas. I have reached out to several PAs in the area and have yet to hear back from anyone. Thank you!
  4. Hello, I'm currently searching for EMPA jobs in the Seattle area. Looking to move in late spring/early summer of 2021 for my boyfriend's job. I've completed a postgrad residency in emergency medicine in an inner city hospital in the midwest. Will have 2 years of experience by time of move, was also an EMT-B for 3 years prior to school. I was wondering if anyone had information on good hospitals/groups to look at or knows of any places hiring! Thanks! C. Bloom
  5. Hello, I am nearing the end of my first year in PA school on the east coast and would like to do a rotation in Seattle, WA. I don't know any physicians or PA's out that way. Does anyone know how I could go about finding a preceptor? Thanks

  9. Hello PA world! My name is Tara Pianko and I currently live in Seattle, Washington. I am desperately looking to find a PA to shadow or get some advice about becoming a PA. I am willing to travel near or far to gain such experience and would appreciate it more than you know! A little more about me - I am 26 and currently working with the FDA as an Investigator primarily focusing on cross-contamination risks that could affect public health through food and a variety of other commodities. I have always had the desire to work in a clinical environment and fell in love with the idea of the PA profession but would love to solidify this idea into fact. I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and graduated from Georgetown University with a Master's degree in Biohazardous Threat Agents (Bioterrorism) & Emerging Infectious Diseases. I have had about 200 hours of shadowing/experience in a hospital in Tanzania, which confirmed that I would love to work in a clinical environment with patients indefinitely. I would appreciate any assistance in gaining more shadowing experience or mentorship as I continue down the path in becoming a PA! Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and Happy New Year! -Tara Pianko
  10. My wife and I are planning on moving to Seattle this fall. We are both PAs, I work in orthopedics and my wife does urogynecology. We just submitted our applications for WA state license. Roughly how long does it take to get a license? We both have 4 years experience and based on current job postings I was thinking our salary would roughly be $115K, is this within reason for a PA with 4 years experience in Seattle? I currently work as an inpatient Ortho PA at a teaching hospital and would prefer a similar position. Are there any hospitals other than UW that may have a similar position? I am open to working in a clinic but O.R. time is a must and I am not interested in taking call. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks
  11. Felt it would be prudent to make a separate thread for those wanting to meet up before the interview, share anxious thoughts, offer help to those coming from out-of-town on place to stay (if you haven't found one already), transport, etc. @fluidworks I'd definitely like to meet up before the big day. For pubs, the College Inn, in the U-District, has big tables and is in walking distance of the hotels suggested in the mailing info. There are also many fairly cheap restaurants around the area. One week!
  12. Hi All, I am looking to apply to UW for the PA program and I see that there are a few different campuses to choose from. The 2 that I am looking at are the Tacoma campus and the Seattle Campus. I will be hopefully moving to the area to be at Fort Lewis (JBLM) due to military obligations so I was wondering which campus is better or what are the pros and cons of each. One thing that has me concerned about the Tacoma campus is the 86% PANCE pass rate in 2015 which is well below national average but Seattle has a 98% PANCE pass rate which is well above. One thing that concerns me about the Seattle Campus is traffic. I would be living approximatley in the middle of both campuses in between Kent and Renton so I am trying to figure out which campus would be the better option. Any current students or any locals that can chime in your help would be greatly appreciated!
