  1. Hello, I'm having a little panic session right now. I submitted one application and realized I did not add the last name for a PA that I shadowed in my experience section. Is this gonna be a major issue for my application? I thought CASPA meant that I couldn't edit the submitted application but that I could still edit the ones I had not yet submitted and now I realize I can't. Are schools going to fault me for this?
  2. Hi all, As a sole practitioner for the past 20 years, I have not had any recent supervisors or school experience to look to for a LOR. I have a solid reference from a PA who is a department head at a major hospital. I have several current and past patients who have work in a professional capacity (medical doctors, lawyers, nurse practitioners, etc). I also have a long time family friend who is a priest who works for the local diocese. The PA school I am looking to apply requires 3 letters of reference and only one needs to be from a PA. I am looking for someone who knows me in a professional
  3. I am going to graduate PA School in May and am just starting to fill out resumes for jobs! I am interested in a certain specialty. If I am going to apply for a job in my favorite specialty, do I need a reference from a doc in that specific specialty or can I just use any preceptor? Does it matter which kind of doctor/PA preceptor gives the recommendation if it is a good recommendation?
  4. Hi all, I am currently in the application process for the 2016-2017-application cycle and am waiting for my application to be verified. I have a below average GPA and GRE and am worried about my chances. I am thinking of applying to schools that do not require the GRE to help improve my chances. Any advice would be appreciated. Age: 26 Ethnicity: Native American Cumulative GPA: 3.30 Science GPA: 3.09 GRE: 148, 148, 4.5 writing Shadow Hours: 100 hours with multiple physicians and PA Letters of Reference: 2 supervisor MD's I work for, 1 professor, 1 voluntee
  5. Internal Medicine / Geriatric care clinic will be hiring a medical assistant to start the first week of November 2017. The office employs two physicians and one physician assistant. This is a great opportunity for pre-PA students to earn quality patient contact hours in order to bolster their applications for physician assistant programs. Additionally, the office is a rotation site for the local PA program. This provides an opportunity for interaction with current PA students during their rotations. Must have medical assistant certification or a Bachelor's degree in a science or medically
  6. Hello all, I would really appreciate some help deciding who to list as a reference. Two of my references will be PAs that I've shadowed, which is all set. My confusion is related to getting a reference from my job, which I'm counting as HCE, so I figure it would be good to have a reference from there. I've been working as a mental health recovery counselor, working with chronically, pretty severely mentally ill clients; I work on their individual goals, administer medications, coordinate care with other providers, etc. The organization is a big mental health services organization in W
  7. I'm doing my last rotation at a Family Medicine clinic I hope will hire me. I believe they are about to extend me an offer. My question: what did you ask for in terms of support at your first place of employment? Did you have a month of orientation where you saw patients with your SP? Did you slowly build up your panel of patients and consult your SP as needed? What was the timeline for you? Like a lot of clinics, this clinics' goal is a patient every 15 minutes (I will have my own panel). I know they won't expect this of me as a new grad, but I'm wondering what I should ask for, both
