  1. Hi, I was curious if anyone knew specific rules or regulations regarding a PA owning their own clinic in New York; or what website has this detailed information? If anyone has gone through this as well, that would be great. I know PA owned cosmetic medi-spa's; but not so much medical clinics offering cosmetics. Thanks
  2. Hi everyone, I am hoping that someone will be able to point me in the direction of some hospitals or private practices that have preceptors who are willing to take PA students in the scottsdale, mesa, Glendale, chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, Phoenix area of Arizona. I am currently a first year PA student at Hofstra university in New York and we are getting ready for rotations this year. For my program, we are allowed to do two rotations out of state so I hoping to go to Arizona. However, we are responsible for finding the preceptor and giving the information to Hofstra. I will be staying in Scottsdale but I am willing to drive!! Any information will be helpful as I am not really sure where to begin looking or who to contact. Thank you SO much in advance!!! Hunter

  4. I see a lot of discouraging posts about PA ownership on this site. I hope to dabble in business someday and I'm looking for some encouragement. How much experience did you accumulate before you decided to branch out on your own? What are some of the things that allowed you to succeed and stand out as a PA in private practice? Also how have you gotten past the poor reimbursement rates that the profession faces?

    TRT Clinic

Hey guys. me and a friend are thinking about trying to start up a Low-T center type business. I understand that the SP needs to own 1%, which should be no big deal. What other challenges and issues have y'all faced and do you think its worth doing? I don't have much knowledge in this realm and any help is appreciated. Thanks
  6. New grad here, still new to the workforce, about 2 months into my first job with a small private practice (family med clinic) with 1 SP and 3 total midlevels between 2 offices. Granted I am still new, but I always wondered what a job would be like in primary care setting but working for a bigger corporation that owned many clinics spanning over my local metropolitan area OR a similar job for one of the many clinics owned/operated by one of the competing giant hospital systems of my city. Has anyone made a transition from small private practice to a bigger hospital system/corporate business or vice versa? If so, what are the pros/cons of each? I'm assuming benefits are much better working for the bigger company. But day-to-day operations, are they all that much different?

    Salary Negotiation

Fellow Psychiatry PAs; I am rapidly approaching my 1 year mark with an outpatient psychiatry practice. I am looking for any input anyone has to offer WRT salary, bonus, contract terms etc. I graduated approximately 1 year ago and I have only had this one job since. I recently changed my schedule from 5 days a week at 8 Hours per to 4 days at 10 hours per. On average I see XX patients per week. Currently my salary is competitive and we do get some benefits. We get 15 vacation days for year 1 then 20 per year, 5 sick days, 6 federal holidays, 5 CME days and $3,000. There is a bonus structure, it is a % for collections over 200K. I am not certain what this will amount to as I have not seen what my collections are. I plan on asking for access to the billing data. The practice has 4 MDs 3 total PAs and around 15 LCSWs, Psychologists and LPCs. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
