  1. Here is a link to a google sheets that I have created to more easily access information on each of the schools in Florida and the requirement standards for acceptance or preference. All programs were retrieved from Stetson University website: https://www.stetson.edu/artsci/pre-health/physician-assistant.php , and all program details listed on the google sheet were obtained through each programs website URL in the Stetson link provided. I hope this can help anyone who finds it hard to look up this information and compare and contrast each of the programs, as it has for me. Note: The Prereq
  2. I guess I'll get this started because I have a question! Has anyone gotten to the section on the supplemental that asks about the other PA programs your applying to? Do you know why this information might be relevant? I haven't been asked this question by other schools!
  3. Hey guys, I'm currently considering applying next year and was wondering if anyone could share their stats for getting into nova or any other school in florida, especially how many pce hours, since they don't seem to require it but I'm not sure how many most applicants have.
  4. Attention Pre-PAs! Getting into PA school has become very competitive, and many school now have more than 20-25 applicants for each open seat. Here is a meeting you do not want to miss! The American Association of Surgical PAs will be hosting a Pre-PA Info/mentoring seminar, practice one on one interviews, and essay reviews in ORLANDO, FLORIDA JANUARY 19th, 2018 (Friday), starting at 1600! There will be a 3-4 hour coaching session and plenty of time after for practice interviews and essay reviews. At the end, receive via email a certificate of attendance from AASPA to dress up your
  5. Not sure if a thread has been started for this cycle. I applied in early May but haven't heard anything. Has anyone else applied this cycle?
  6. Hello everyone!!!! This is my first time posting on this forum so i'm hoping I'm doing it right. A little bit about my background: I went to the University of Miami (2014) and graduated with a GPA of 3.0 with a bachelors of Microbiology and Immunology and minors in Biology and Chemistry. Then I went on and got my masters at Barry University in Biomedical Sciences and graduated this past May (2016) with a GPA of 3.6 I have a 2 year research experience at the microbiology lab at Miller school of Medicine in Miami, 160 hours of shadowing with different physicians (Urology, Obgyn, Neur
  7. Has anyone here taken their pre-requisites and a 2 year school and been accepted to PA school? I've been told by some schools that it makes you a less competitive candidate, but I work full time and the 2 year schools seem to be the only ones offering Friday/Saturday classes. Thanks!
  8. I'm on the wait list for 3 PA programs, so I most likely will have to re-apply this upcoming cycle. Would I be able to use the same essay I used before if I just add a few updates to it? I'll be applying to a couple of the same schools, but some others as well since I will have more direct patient care hours than before.
  9. Hello, I'm currently in PA school and am compiling a list of questions that patients may be uncomfortable asking their healthcare providers. Just like every clinician, I want my patients to feel secure telling me what they're thinking. So please, think back to time when a patient, a friend, a family member or even you, yourself were hesitant to ask a question. Feel welcome to post questions here or anonymously on my online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QFNYL87 Thank you in advance for your feedback!
  10. Figured we were the only Nova class without their own page and instead of piggy-backing on last year's forum we should have our own. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted I look forward to meeting you all. Everyone who hasn't been accepted yet, is on the wait list, or looking to come here next year feel free to post any questions. Hope this helps everyone out!
  11. Hello everyone! I am only a freshman in college, but will be classified as a sophomore after this coming fall. NOVA in Ft. Myers is my number one choice for PA school, as it is not far from home and I am familiar with the area. I have a 3.0 GPA as of right now (I had rude awakening my first semester), but my spring classes are about to come to an end. I have shadowing opportunities lined up for this coming summer, and I plan on becoming a CNA by this fall. I was just wondering if any of you have any advice that could make or break my acceptance? How competitive is NOVA in Ft.Myers? I ho
  12. RIght now, my primary form of HCE is several semesters (so far) as a nursing student. However, I'm not sure where I should include this information on my CASPA application. In the category of "Work and Volunteer Experience," there is a drop-down menu with the choices of "Patient Care Experience" and "Other Healthcare Experience," but the forms for both of those include mandatory fields for information such as employer name, supervisor name, number of hours worked per week, whether the work was full-time/part-time, etc. Should I just fill out this information as honestly as I can and then make
  13. I would really appreciate it if someone is willing to share their experience at NSU naples or any of the other NSU locations. Thank you
  14. Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted! One of our future fellow students was nice enough to create a Facebook group for the NSU Fort Myers C/O 2015. Please only join if you've been offered and accepted a seat in the class. http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/166912143455710/ Good luck to everyone during this application/interview cycle!
  15. Has anyone been accepted to the Nova programs with an online bachelors degree? If so how does the admissions board feel about online programs? I'm currently working on an online degree from UF and I'm not sure if it's the best course of action to get into PA school. Any advice would be big help! Thanks
  16. I'm a pre-PA student and volunteer EMT looking for a shadow opportunity. I am willing to travel and can accommodate any shift. If you are interested please let me know. Thank you, Samantha
