  1. I guess I'll get this started because I have a question! Has anyone gotten to the section on the supplemental that asks about the other PA programs your applying to? Do you know why this information might be relevant? I haven't been asked this question by other schools!

  3. Not sure if a thread has been started for this cycle. I applied in early May but haven't heard anything. Has anyone else applied this cycle?
  4. Hello everyone!!!! This is my first time posting on this forum so i'm hoping I'm doing it right. A little bit about my background: I went to the University of Miami (2014) and graduated with a GPA of 3.0 with a bachelors of Microbiology and Immunology and minors in Biology and Chemistry. Then I went on and got my masters at Barry University in Biomedical Sciences and graduated this past May (2016) with a GPA of 3.6 I have a 2 year research experience at the microbiology lab at Miller school of Medicine in Miami, 160 hours of shadowing with different physicians (Urology, Obgyn, Neurosurgery and Anesthesiology) Also, I have accumulated over 120 hours volunteering at Cleveland Clinic florida at the ER working on both health care experience (greeting and bringing patients to the back, restocking the shelves, providing blankets and pillows to patients, serving food and also cleaning the rooms, organizing the charts and more...) as well as direct patient care (taking the patients vitals such as blood pressure, measuring height and weight, oxygen saturation and more...) so basically my ER hours can be used for both sections on the CASPA I have all my letters of recommendations (one from a PA, one from a charged nurse at the ER and one from my director in grad school) but I haven't taken my GRE yet! My problem is that I am not sure this is competitive enough, should I go and get certified as a CNA or even MA or even a scribe? or should I apply right now with what I have so far? is it too late to apply? I'm interested in applying to all schools in Florida but my first choice is Nova in Orlando. I need your opinion please!!
  5. Has anyone here taken their pre-requisites and a 2 year school and been accepted to PA school? I've been told by some schools that it makes you a less competitive candidate, but I work full time and the 2 year schools seem to be the only ones offering Friday/Saturday classes. Thanks!
  6. I'm on the wait list for 3 PA programs, so I most likely will have to re-apply this upcoming cycle. Would I be able to use the same essay I used before if I just add a few updates to it? I'll be applying to a couple of the same schools, but some others as well since I will have more direct patient care hours than before.
  7. Hello, I'm currently in PA school and am compiling a list of questions that patients may be uncomfortable asking their healthcare providers. Just like every clinician, I want my patients to feel secure telling me what they're thinking. So please, think back to time when a patient, a friend, a family member or even you, yourself were hesitant to ask a question. Feel welcome to post questions here or anonymously on my online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QFNYL87 Thank you in advance for your feedback!
  8. Figured we were the only Nova class without their own page and instead of piggy-backing on last year's forum we should have our own. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted I look forward to meeting you all. Everyone who hasn't been accepted yet, is on the wait list, or looking to come here next year feel free to post any questions. Hope this helps everyone out!
  9. Hello everyone! I am only a freshman in college, but will be classified as a sophomore after this coming fall. NOVA in Ft. Myers is my number one choice for PA school, as it is not far from home and I am familiar with the area. I have a 3.0 GPA as of right now (I had rude awakening my first semester), but my spring classes are about to come to an end. I have shadowing opportunities lined up for this coming summer, and I plan on becoming a CNA by this fall. I was just wondering if any of you have any advice that could make or break my acceptance? How competitive is NOVA in Ft.Myers? I hope I am looking into this early enough so I can fulfill all of their requests. Thanks! :)
  10. RIght now, my primary form of HCE is several semesters (so far) as a nursing student. However, I'm not sure where I should include this information on my CASPA application. In the category of "Work and Volunteer Experience," there is a drop-down menu with the choices of "Patient Care Experience" and "Other Healthcare Experience," but the forms for both of those include mandatory fields for information such as employer name, supervisor name, number of hours worked per week, whether the work was full-time/part-time, etc. Should I just fill out this information as honestly as I can and then make note of the fact that I am a student in the "Duties" field, or is there another form I should complete instead that I have overlooked? Thanks...
  11. I would really appreciate it if someone is willing to share their experience at NSU naples or any of the other NSU locations. Thank you
  12. Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted! One of our future fellow students was nice enough to create a Facebook group for the NSU Fort Myers C/O 2015. Please only join if you've been offered and accepted a seat in the class. http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/166912143455710/ Good luck to everyone during this application/interview cycle!
  13. Has anyone been accepted to the Nova programs with an online bachelors degree? If so how does the admissions board feel about online programs? I'm currently working on an online degree from UF and I'm not sure if it's the best course of action to get into PA school. Any advice would be big help! Thanks
  14. I'm a pre-PA student and volunteer EMT looking for a shadow opportunity. I am willing to travel and can accommodate any shift. If you are interested please let me know. Thank you, Samantha
