  1. Hey guys! Just wanted to start a thread for anyone looking at Concordia University that is opening in Ann Arbor. They're taking their first class starting 2019 but don't even have pre-reqs up yet so I was just curious if anyone else was looking at this or had any info on it. Thanks!
  2. Hello! I saw a thread hadn't been created for U of M. They're accepting applications starting next year and will have their first class starting in 2020. Anyone else interested in this program or have any insight? I was mostly wondering if anyone has experiences with Flint and the safety aspect. Thanks!
  3. My name is Gregory E. Gould D.O. and I have an internal medicine practice in Washington, Michigan. I would like to extend the opportunity to students or recent graduates looking for full-time or part-time employment as a medical assistant in my office. This presents itself as an amazing opportunity for you to get direct patient contact, work alongside a practicing physician assistant, and make some money. Our current need for this role in the office is immediate given that one of our medical assistance just left for pre-nursing college. Please feel free to text me or email me with your interest. My telephone number is 248-506-2258. Also, if you feel there is an individual that may be interested please feel free to forward this email to them. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you, Dr. Gould www.drgregorygould.com
  4. Hello, I am a first year PA student at Kettering College in Kettering, Ohio. I am from Michigan in the Metro-Detroit area and am hoping to come back to Michigan to do my clinical rotations starting in early September 2018. I will be living in the Metro-Detroit area so I am looking for rotations around that area or in Toledo, but I'm open to other ares in Michigan or Northern Ohio. If anyone knows of any rotation opportunities or preceptors that are taking PA students please let me know. Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  6. Just started doing the prerequisites, so there's no rush. Open to any number of hours with a goal of 50. Open to bribery. Maximum budget is the equivalent of 10 toblerones.
  7. I am writing to see if anyone on the forum has any information on the legality of opening a specialty practice as an independent contractor. I am interested in starting a hangover clinic in a metro area... cash only, home/hotel visits, IV's, B12, thiamine, etc... on the sidelines. I currently work ER. Any thoughts?
  8. Hi everyone! I am a rising senior pre-PA undergrad at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. I've been asking around to see if I can find anyone to shadow, but I haven't had much luck. If there are any PA's in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area that would like to have a student shadow them, I am very eager to learn! While I am most interested in the specialties of internal medicine, gastroenterology, pediatrics, gynecology, psychiatry, and endocrinology, I would love the opportunity to shadow a PA of any specialty! Thank you!
  9. Hey All, I'm currently about to enter my clinical year of rotations. I'm a Michigan native but am attending PA school out of state. I'm looking to do my rotations back in Michigan. I'd having problems setting up rotations because most hospitals already have contracts with local PA programs and won't take me as a student. Are there any fellow Michiganders that have any resources on preceptors? Thanks! -ProspectPA
  10. Hello everyone, I was wondering if the ranking of the PA school you go to matters. US News has a ranking of PA schools - does anyone know whether this ranking system is a true reflection of the quality of education of the schools? Or of the quality of job offers you'd get after graduation? Thank you!
  11. Hello, I am a soon to be new graduate and am in the process of applying for a position in InterCare in Benton Harbor, MI. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with InterCare Community Health Network or the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area. Any input is appreciated! Thanks
  12. I live in Livonia, MI and I'm having trouble finding a PA to shadow, I am hoping to shadow within 15-20 miles from home but will certainly go further if needed. I'm particularly interested in Emergency Medicine- and am an EMT! I would, however be very willing to shadow in any situation! I'm also looking for a job, I am very slightly limited by an old back injury- can't lift over 100# or repeatedly (thus no ambulance work) but am perfectly able otherwise; any ideas or suggestions are welcome!! I need to increase my recent human patient care hours as I am currently working in veterinary medicine and am frustrated by my current lack of human medical practitioner contacts. Thank you so much for any help or suggestions you can give!
  13. I am a business consultant and risk manager, partnered with a PA, with the objective of opening a PA run clinic in southeast Michigan( metro Detroit). We have secured the funds, location, and have a large client base. We have developed a flexible compensation and bonus structure which provides the physician flexibility and security. We are in the process of interviewing physicians. I do not feel we have met an adequate number of physicians to make an educated decision. Does anyone have any ideas, or know of a Physician, who would be open to discussion. As a safety precaution for both parties a non disclosure agreement has been drafted to protect the privacy of all parties involved. The State of Michigan is currently reviewing our articles of incorporation. I feel our existing client base is what gives us a head start. We are looking for a physician to play a minimum role in the day to day operations. Our attorney and business advisors drafted several contracts which offer a fair salary, bonus structures and security for the physician. We are interviewing the first week of February in both Novi and Trenton Mi. I am scheduling individual dinner meetings over the next few weeks. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and or advice. I am new to this forum and unaware if I am able to receive private messages. If not, and a question contains private information, please state so and I will attach an email address. Thank you for your time. This forum is a real asset to those in need of information. Thank you
  14. Greetings forum! I have a couple questions for everyone. I am 21 and I recently switched majors in hopes to become a PA student, and need all of the help I can get. I will be taking classes at Oakland Community College as well as Oakland University in hopes to major in Health Sciences and get accepted into PA school at Wayne State University. I am very lost on what I need to do from start-to-finish and some sort of direction would be great. I am a very checklist-goal oriented person, so direction is key for me. My main questions are; 1) What are the pre-reqs from either colleges that Wayne State looks at? 2) When and where should I be doing my patient hours? 3) Any literature I should be reading to prep myself? 4) Any tips on getting through from future/current PA students? 5) Is there a specific timeline that you follow from start-to-finish? Any help is appreciated! I am still very new to this and want the best for myself when pursuing this career. Thanks!
