  1. Hey all, I thought I'd get the 2021-2022 Application Cycle thread rolling! I submitted on 5/11 and was verified on 5/12. Good luck everyone, I can't wait to see what this cycle brings!!!!!
  2. Hi everyone! I just submitted my application. Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!
  3. Hey all, As there seems to be a lot of growing interest in EM PA residencies across the country, I just thought I'd start this to (hopefully) offer answers to any burning questions you guys have about EM residency in general or at Iowa in particular. Ask away! I'll edit this initial post to include all Q&A to make it easier on the reader. Who I am: Year-1 EM PA resident at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC); Graduated from South University - Tampa C/O 2015; formerly trained as EMT, paramedic. ***Obligatory disclaimer: I do not represent UIHC, nor the EM P
  4. I am looking for PA to shadowing in the Des Moines, Iowa area and the surrounding metro area. I have been looking for an opportunity for some time and hope to shadow PA's in many different areas of medicine. Currently I work as a CNA and can accommodate my schedule easily to allow whatever works for the PA's schedule in allowing me to shadow them. Please reply to this if you are able to allow a pre-PA student to shadow with you. Thank you very much.
  5. Thought I'd get a new topic for the 2017-2018 cycle started. I submitted my application on 7/30 and received a confirmation eMail on 7/31. I eMailed a question to the program and received a very quick, helpful response. I'm impressed so far and hope I can get an interview with my weaker stats. My stats: Overall GPA: 3.39 uGPA: 3.36 sGPA: 3.68 GRE: 310 Volunteer: ~1000 hours PCE: ~2000 hours
  6. Huh, I just realized there was no thread for applicants here this year. Anyway, submitted and verified in June. Just received an interview invite for September (my first invite; very excited). Best of luck to everyone.
  7. I was wondering if anyone else has applied to this school. I just heard back from them today and they invited me to come take a pre-interview exam. Depending on how I do they will invite me back for an interview. Has anyone else heard anything?
  8. I'm considering applying to the PA program at Western. Does anyone know if their program has a medical spanish component, and if so, for how long? I looked on the website and couldn't seem to find it. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. In Canada a clinical trial is almost complete evaluating the role of obtaining cardiac enzymes/BNP using Alere triage pro in ambulance in all possible NSTEMI chest pain patients and AHF pts. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT01634425 No doubt this will probably become standard of care, especially in rural areas with >30 min transport times. I have some experience with the triage pro machines and its appx 12-14 min to get a Troponin/Myo/CKMB back, so potentially it will be finished before rolling into us at ER.
  10. Hi everyone, just seeing who has been accepted to class of 2013 and what will your housing/ living arrangements be? I have been accepted and will be attending this fall and would possibly like to room up with another PA student. Congratulations to all those that have been accepted, see you in the fall!
  11. I am a pre PA student finishing up my prerequisites. I work full time so shadowing on the weekends would be ideal.
