  1. Hi! Just wanted to start this for anyone who is looking to apply to Dominican Univeristy’s PA Program! I’m a current student in their program, so please let me know if you have any questions with applying!! Good luck!!
  2. What is the process of creating a clinical site or at least an affiliation with a doctor or organization for one student to do a rotation at? I have been desperately trying to get clinical rotations in CA, my home, while I am currently out of state. I have situational depression and I know that being able to do rotations back at home would help immensely with my focus, happiness, and health, but my school won't budge in helping me. Their reasoning was that it's too much work for them to make affiliations with new sites. I have found doctors willing to take me in for rotations though, so the only thing left would be the paperwork which I thought was in large part filled out by the preceptor. Does anyone know anything about this, and if so, could you please help me understand?
  3. I have recently been accepted to both Midwestern University and Rosalind Franklin. I liked both schools very much and am having a hard time making a decision. Both schools are tied in rankings and both are newer with nice facilities and resources. I was wondering if anyone had any input on information that may make my decision easier. Specifically, does anyone know anything about school reputations, job opportunities, career preparation, etc? Any help is appreciated!
  4. I will be moving to Chicago after graduation in June - trying to get a feel for the place. I see some of the past posts are a bit outdated - so wanted to get the new skinny on things. Please feel free to answer some or all the questions below. For starters: 1. Average Salary for new PA grad 2. Are there any particular hospitals with any PA-ran services or known to be "PA friendly" for that matter? Interested in job opportunities in Internal Medicine or Outpatient Medicine at this time but still open to any good initial job opp post PA school. 3. Any licensing advice to make the process smooth is greatly welcomed Many Thanks!
  5. Hello everyone! This forum is great, I am so glad I found it. I am looking for an opportunity to shadow a PA-C in the Chicagoland area. Any leads would be much appreciated. Thanks! Andrew
  6. Anyone hear any news from Harding? I sent in my GRE today, but haven't heard anything for a secondary for a while
  7. Just wondering if people had advice/opinions on these two programs. Rush is a newer program and Midwestern is a little more established. -Does anyone have any insight on which may overall have better clinical rotations/job placement? -Is the extra 6 months at Rush going to be a great advantage in terms of getting hired? -Is Rush still working out the kinks of being a newer program (started in 2010)? -Does Midwestern still have good downtown Chicago rotations? Advice would be greatly appreciated on any of the questions!
  8. Hi, I'm graduating a 4year university in June, and I'm thinking about getting a MA job or doing an MA program for a year and then working as an MA for a couple years before applying to PA school. I was wondering if being a back office MA at an eye surgery center be considered as HCE hours? Also, there's a couple of chemistry classes that I'd like to retake at a CC or a different school once I graduate to increase my GPA a boost; I was wondering if PA schools care where I retake those classes. Thank you to those who reply; I appreciate any feedback/suggestions!
  9. Hey All! I started this forum for those looking to enter Midwestern University - Downers Grove, IL starting next summer 2014. I wanted to begin this forum so that all of us interested in this PA Program can come together to talk about EVERYTHING & ANYTHING! Applications, application process, interviews, interview tips, stats, support, application decisions, to celebrate getting an interview or an admission, you name it! :)
  10. Hey everyone, I've been having some trouble finding a PA to shadow in the Chicagoland area. I contacted the IAPA, and they gave me a list of people willing to be a mentor, but no one has answered my emails in two weeks (I understand it's customary to "get to know" the PA before asking to shadow them). Does anyone have any additional resources or are there any PA's in the area willing to allow a student to shadow them? Thanks!
  11. I am about to graduate from SIUe with my BS in BioMedical Science, and I need PA shadowing experience before I can apply to PA school. I am not from around here, so knowing the right people has been hard. I could have one in my hometown, but I do not want to move back home. Please message with any help! Thanks!
  12. Hello! First, I would like to thank anyone who has taken the opportunity to read this post and respond to my inquiry. I deeply appreciate the kindness. Secondly, I am looking to find a PA to shadow in the northern counties of Illinois, preferably Northern Cook, Lake and/or McHenry. I am fairly confident that this is the right career path for me but I want to be absolutely sure before I continue in school, trying to collect the necessary credits in classes that I may not need if I don't feel like this profession is the right fit. Therefore, I know that the next step is shadowing a PA either at a hospital and/or a clinic. Please feel free to email me @ MBrouillette4784@hotmail.com. Any responses are welcome! Thank you and have a wonderful day! :=D:
