  1. I am a former Physician Assistant Student who was most recently dismissed in May 2020. This was due as a result of my unsuccessful completion in my Pharmacology II course which was 79.07% with a failed remediation exam. The downfall of my academic success started in March shortly after the announcement that all classes would be transitioned to online over Zoom. As for the entire year I had my struggles as a PA student but never to the extent that I had endured being at home in NJ with a multitude of distractions. Having been diagnosed with both Aspergers and ADHD only made my student life ten

  3. Would people please reply with the name of their PA school and if you have: -mandatory in-person lectures (and since when) -optional online lectures -online lectures only My school has required all classes in person since August 2020 even though COVID numbers are worse now than they were in the summer. They tell us it's required for accreditation, but I am finding out several PA schools are either all online or give their students an option. I understand requiring skills labs and exams in-person, but lectures in person seem unnecessary and irresponsible. Knowing that many s
  4. What’s In A Name? Robert M. Blumm, PA, DFAAPA, PA-C Emeritus The title of this article is an echo of Shakespeare, but let me assure you that today’s theme is not about Romeo and Juliet. The title question put forth has a very significant meaning to all people regardless of nationality, culture, ethnicity, or religion. A person’s name - any person - is the greatest connection to their identity and their individuality. Its importance cannot be underestimated if we are speaking of a profession, a practice, a company, a corporation, or of an individual itself. Think of name
  5. Surprisingly, I did not see any threads about this! As an incoming student that has no idea how this pandemic will affect PA school during the spring/summer, I want to hear how your school dealt with COVID-19 and the pros/cons of things transferring online!
  6. Hello Everyone, Is anyone aware of any virtual shadowing opportunities through zoom or any other video platform during this COVID-19 Pandemic?
  7. CASPA failed to process my application before the deadline of October 1. They apparently had an issue processing the COVID—19 Transcript Delay Form. I checked in both through phone and email, and still, they failed to verify prior to the deadline. I submitted all material July. has anyone else had this issue?
  8. Hi! Does anyone know of any programs that once required the GRE and are now no longer requiring it this year due to COVID? I wanted to apply to a few more schools but haven’t taken the GRE. Thanks!
  9. Hey good people! I hope you’re all well and healthy during this COVID-19 outbreak. Just wanted to start this early and see your progress on the 2020-21 PA applications!
  10. I thought it would be helpful to spread the trial information regarding an actively enrolling nationwide pre-exposure prophylaxis with weekly low-dose hydroxychloroquine (website: covidprep.umn.edu). Neat study design with eligibility determination, enrollment, and follow-up online as well as FedEx shipment of the medication. UMN also has a post-exposure prophylaxis trial ongoing, more information at covidpep.umn.edu. This is a national, internet-based, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, prospective clinical trial examining the effectiveness of low-dose weekly hydroxychlor
  11. Hello all! I could use some advice! I am currently accepted to a pa program that starts in June of this year. However, I am really second guessing this program, but hate to turn down my chance at pa school. I know multiple people that go there currently, and I have heard nothing but terrible things about the program. To start, they have already had 9 students drop out or be kicked out of the class that started in 2019 (I feel like this is very unheard of). I have heard countless stories of the staff being very demeaning and unsupportive (telling students they should drop out, will never b
  12. I wish we had Telemed as a specialty topic I have been looking for work in Temed for years. The AAPA is now pushing to get us into the role and a new website "TelehealthMany PAs have asked about opportunities in virtual medicine and telehealth. The Medicare program reimburses PAs for providing all covered telehealth services in the same manner as physicians. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services temporarily expanded telehealth and telemedicine services to enable beneficiaries to receive a wider range of healthcare services without havi

  14. I can not verify the authenticity of the below post but it was forwarded by an ICU PA I know and reportedly posted by an intensivist in Seattle: “Intensivist front line in Seattle” * we have 21 pts and 11 deaths since 2/28. * we are seeing pts who are young (20s), fit, no comorbidities, critically ill. It does happen. * US has been past containment since January * Currently, all of ICU is for critically ill COVIDs, all of floor medsurg for stable COVIDs and EOL care, half of PCU, half of ER. New resp-sx pts Pulmonary Clinic offshoot is open * CDC is no longer imp
