  1. Hi All, I was wondering if there are any places taking students for rotations starting in Jan 2021? I would love a rotation in San Diego sometime between January and April as my husband is mobilized there with the NH Army National Guard. Other areas of geographical interest are the Midwest, New England, Alaska and Hawaii for Jan 2021-Dec 2021. Specifically rotations located in the following places: Western SD, Cheyenne, WY, Casper, WY, Western Nebraska, Denver, CO area inc. the foothills, Sioux City, IA, Topeka, KS, Indianapolis, IN, Palmer, AK, Hawaii, Minnesota, NH, VT, ME, and/or MA Thank you in advance!!
  2. Dear PA Student, My name is Dr. Leonard. I am a physician assistant and a PA educator. With the ongoing pandemic my concern for the future of the current PA students, especially those on clinical rotations, concerns me. This is why I am emailing students about PA Excel and their HELP line for PANCE review. I used this program 6 years ago and it has only gotten better! It is a PANCE review like no other. I do NOT work for PA Excel, although I may do some anatomy and physiology review for them in the future, but I love and believe in their product! But check them out for yourselves, do your homework but I can guarantee this program is the best and most affordable. And because I am such a big shot, lol jk, no but I know the CEO, he gave me my own code to give students to get them 30% off. I was like, a third? That is crazy. Anyways, I hope you use it. Feel free to give this code: evan30 to anyone and everyone you care too whom you think would benefit from this impressive PANCE review. They have virtual clinical rotations as well that are ARC-PA approved; if your PA program is struggling to get clinical rotations during this pandemic. Here is the direct link: https://helpcampus.com/membership-options/?_s2member_vars=page..level..1..page..78996..Lw%3D%3D&_s2member_sig=1586375631-f3148aa7ff0f97cb30a3a2450088f0f8 But here is the main website page in case you think I am sending you some crazy spam link lol: https://paexcel.com/ Twenty-five universities use PA Excel for their entire program to use. I think this is a good way to a. stay fresh for rotations and b. prepare for the PANCE. Again, the discount code is evan30. Best of Luck and Good Studying, Dr. Leonard, MS, PA-C

  4. Hi everyone, I am looking for a capstone rotation in Austin, TX. I am graduating in December and the rotation would take place from late Aug to early Dec. I'm not looking for any specific specialty. Anything helps!! Thank you
  5. Hey guys, Could you tell me what the clinical sites are for the SUNY Upstate PA program?
  6. I have recently started a rotation at an ER. I am being asked to do lots of EKGs, transport patients to the floor, put them in gowns, getting blankets, helping them with bed pans and changing diapers. I'm not above these tasks, but I'm just not sure if this is the norm. I'm being assigned way more of these duties than getting to see patients or perform procedures. Has anyone else had a similar experience in an ER? TIA
  7. Hello! I am currently still in the didactic phase of PA school in New Orleans but I will be starting rotations next May. My goal is to work in Houston after PA school, so because of this I would like to do my preceptorship there! The problem is that I do not have any contacts in Houston (except for my significant other who is a CPA). My preferred specialty is trauma surgery, but I am also interested in ED, general surgery, cardio-thoracic, or plastics. If anyone knows who I can get in contact with about doing my preceptorship in Houston or the surrounding area it would be forever appreciated!!!!! my email is sydney737@hotmail.com, or you can reply to this thread.
  8. Hello, I am a current, first-year Physician Assistant student in TN but am trying to return home to AZ for clinical rotations. Does anyone know of any providers who may be willing to be preceptors? I am starting my clinical rotations in January 2018. Thank you! Elizabeth
  9. Hey there I'm currently wrapping up my 2nd semester of PA school and have pretty much established my personal study routine. I'm wondering how I will need to adjust for rotations this summer. Do you find yourself studying for day to day clinical situations or focusing on EOR exams? Also how many hours/night & weekends? Thanks!
  10. Dear PA Student or PA Grad, After personally tutoring PA students matriculating in PA schools for 2 years, I began tutoring graduates who were about to take the PANCE for the first time. 100% of the first five I tutored scored high. After teaching for over 20 years, I have made these subjects relatively simple to learn without memorization! And since 2012, I have helped 57 students pass the PANCE and PANRE. My students were from schools all across the U.S. *Of those 5 first time takers, 100% passed. *Of those who had failed once, 97% passed. *Of those who failed twice, 93% passed. *And of those who failed three times, 91% passed after taking my course. These are awesome results. Now I am pleased to offer my complete personal Automated AudioVisual PANCE/PANRE tutoring course online. This course has taken me 5 years to develop. It is a complete NCCPA Blueprint oriented AudioVisual PANCE, PANRE tutoring course with 1,200 Power Point slides. This course has also been used by students still in school with great success because the student can pick and choose the Topics and Systems the student wants to review. This is my complete ‘one on one’ tutoring course online with text and audio, at a fraction of what I charged for personal tutoring. The audio alone lasts for 20 hours. I encourage you to visit my website at www.PrecipioLearning.com to watch a free sample. Most Sincerely, John Athas, M.D. (retired) Level 1 Trauma ER M.D. Internist Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Fl
  11. Hi everyone: I've found many varying answers to this question: What is a reasonable salary to expect for a surgical PA in the Bay Area (Marin County specifically)? Here are my specs: 11 years surgical experience FT and per diem (cardiac (non-operative), vascular, general, hand, also anesthesia), currently working in emergency medicine for the past 1 1/2 years in Boston. Fluent in Spanish, proficient in French and Portuguese. PA degree from Cornell. Currently halfway through an online healthcare MBA. Offer negotiations are ongoing at the moment, so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone, This might sound silly but what is an interim? I took a class in the summer that lasted 10 weeks (I'm in a quarter system) And took classes for summer session I and II. This 10 week class was between the two sessions so would I put it as interim or just either summer 1 or summer 2? I hope that makes sense.

  14. Hello, I'm a current PA student who was 3 months into clinical rotations when I had to leave my school for non-academic reasons. I'm trying to see if there are any current PA students, or practicing PA's who have been in a similar situation and had to transfer programs, or were able to get into another school via advanced placement. Through my own research here are the only schools that I have found so far: Baylor Union College Shenandoah Rutgers Rochester Institute of technology Even with these mentioned here, the consideration for transfer or advanced placement can be fairly broad. I do not expect to find a school that will allow me to go straight into a clinical rotation, but I am hoping to not have to complete all of my didactic year. Any information is greatly appreciated.
  15. Hey all - I am a current 2nd year PA student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. I am interested in moving to Denver after I graduate. I am not in a position to do full clinical rotations in the Colorado area due to finances, but I am hopeful I can meet a surgeon or surgical PA in the Denver area that is willing to allow shadowing on one Friday or on a weekend each month. My interests thus far are in dermatology, cardiology, neurology and urology (all very different, I know...). My best friend lives in Denver and I plan to drive out to Denver and stay with her for several 3-day weekends during my next few semesters. My hope is to be able to shadow a physician or PA in the Denver area on Fridays/weekends while I'm visiting the area. If there is anyone willing to allow me to sit in on clinic days here and there, I would greatly appreciate it! Please contact if so. My phone number is 816-853-0388, and email is ag4h9@mail.umkc.edu. Thank you! Allison

  17. This is the description while I was looking for HCE jobs in the area... "The Patient Safety Aide is a caregiver who is visually attentive to a patient at risk due to meeting the criteria and having an order for a 1:1 patient watch." Do you think this is adequate HCE experience?
  18. Hi all, I'm really stuck on not wanting to completely scrap my last year's PS. The thing is, my original personal statement states all the influences and reasons/drive/motivation to become a PA. I mean, that innate drive shouldn't change in a year, right? So does that mean I should rewrite this part of my PS? Thanks in advance! :)
