  1. Hi, all! I'm hoping to reach out for some help. I'd like to get both of my elective rotations in South Korea next year (2022--more specifically Oct-December 2022 near Bucheon, Seoul). I've got a place to call home there and it would make my future family's year. My program has been researching and reaching out to other programs but we haven't had much luck. There aren't any PAs in Korea so I will likely have to either piggyback off a medical rotation or find a physician who's willing to take me under their wing. Does anyone have experience or know of someone who has travelled abroad for a rotation? If it was in Korea, even better!! I'd love to reach out or network with them to try and make some connections. I'm unfamiliar with so many things, even more so now that COVID complicates things (opportunities out there, visa requirements, quarantine, rotation lengths, etc.) Any crumbs would be much appreciated.
  2. My program allows two electives and I am not sure which ones I should choose since I am interested in 4 different electives. My question is should you pick something you might never have the chance to see again and have genuine interest in or something that will be more helpful in job searching and future practice? One option is pediatric endocrinology which I think is very interesting and will have more variety in cases, but is very specialized, thus it might not be helpful for my future job searching. On the other hand, I can choose general endocrinology, but I am afraid that I will get bored seeing mostly diabetes and thyroid cases. However, doing this rotation would help me in most future jobs since diabetes is such a common issue. Plus, a professor said that it is easier to find a job in endo compared to most other specialties. Another professor said I should only choose pediatric endocrinology as an elective unless I know 100% that I want to specialize in pediatric endocrinology. Any advice?
  3. Hello, new clinical rotation student here! I saw the pinned 'clinical advice' forum was from 2005 so I wanted to start one fresh. I would love if people could drop their best advice (ex. advice per specialty/ rotation, comfortable business professional shoes, pocket books to get, EOR advice, skills to definitely have perfected, how to make a good lasting impression, etc). Any and all advice you think of is appreciated! Thank you so much
  4. Hi everyone! I am currently in my third semester of didactic year and will be starting clinical rotations in the fall. My family is moving to Tampa and I was hoping to get a rotation set up in the area. I am looking for a preceptor in family or internal medicine, pediatrics, behavioral, women's health, or emergency medicine. If you know any contacts or other forums I could reach out to please let me know, thank you!
  5. If this has already been asked, I apologize. I could not find a thorough post. Any recommendations/advice/comments (good or bad) would be really appreciated! Does anyone have any advice on an ICU clinical rotation? Or advice on working as a PA in ICU/critical care? Any recommendation on books/resources to use as a student on rotation? Any current or previous ICU/critical care PA: is it difficult to find a job in ICU/critical care? Is a fellowship recommended or required?

  7. Hello, I am nearing the end of my first year in PA school on the east coast and would like to do a rotation in Seattle, WA. I don't know any physicians or PA's out that way. Does anyone know how I could go about finding a preceptor? Thanks
  8. Hi! I'm looking into PA schools to apply for in the next year. Having the option to choose where I want to go during the clinical year is very important, however I can't find a list of schools that offers this option. I realize there are schools that have more flexibility on their clinical year than others. What are some programs, or does somebody know a site that has a list, that offer their students to travel to different areas of the country during their clinical year, upon approval of a program? Thank you!!
  9. Hi, I am a current Physician Assistant student in Philadelphia PA who is interested in moving to Arizona after graduation (May 2013). I am hoping to make some contacts in Arizona (specifically the Phoenix area) to gain more information on what it is like working as a PA in the state. Additionally I am hoping to make contacts for my clinical year starting May 2012. I hope to do at least two clinical rotations in Arizona next year but will have to make the contacts within the hospitals on my own so any advice would be helpful. Thank you Kathryn
  10. I know that it is now a law for schools to provide clinical rotations. Yet, I grew up in a big medical community and am very interested in trying to get rotations in my home town. I will start school this summer. Does anyone know how open schools are to allowing you to set up your own clinical rotations? Personally, I would like to have all of my rotations in my home state if possible. Please let me know what you think!
