  1. I'm a PA who's been working in Oklahoma doing general surgery and urology at the same hospital since I graduated in May 2018. I have two concerns: 1) I finished a 1-year contract and resigned for a 3-year contract which bases my annual bonus off of RVUs (very low 1520). I recently finished the first year of this contract and I've been told the hospital doesn't know how many RVUs I've accumulated because they don't know how to calculate my RVUs from surgery. In my second contract (signed this summer) it states that there will be a bonus of $25 for every wRVU over 2350. Last year as a new graduate I produced somewhere around 4300.   3. Hi All, Does anyone have any experience with being compensated with RVU alone? Our physician staffing firm is contemplating straight RVU compensation. We have been hourly since the beginning, but recently there has been a lot of talk about going to RVU w/o a base salary just like our supervising ED Docs. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.   4. I am an ortho PA for a large hospital owned ortho group. I was hired 3 1/2 years ago to work with a specific surgeon. As the PA's in the group have increased, the management team is looking at our salaries and seeing that we don't make enough RVU's to cover our salary. The only ones who are doing so, work for total joint surgeons. My surgeon does maybe 1 total a week and mostly outpatient surgeries that some can bill for me and some can't.   5. Hey all, I'll be graduating in a week and I've been in touch with the new director of a local ER. I've known him professionally in the past and there is mutual interest in getting me to work there. The ER in question recently acquired a new contract that I've heard is purely RVU based pay. I don't know specifics yet as I haven't yet been presented with a contract. As a new grad with expectedly low productivity, would it be a bad idea to sign on for only RVU pay?   7. I got an offer today for an Urgent Care Gig It includes 95,000 salary (45.68 per hr), Full health/dental no cost to me, 1% matching 401k, 2 weeks PTO, 10,000 sign on bonus, malpractice paid. It also includes $10.00 per RVU for each RVU generated over 3250 per year, BONUS. This is a 3 year contract. Is the RVU bonus subject to higher taxes than my normal income will be?   9. Hello, I received a psychiatry PA position offer for $100,000 per year, with a $10,000 2 yr commitment sign on bonus paid out after 90 days of employment. Also includes ability to earn an incentive of $20 for every RVU’s in excess of the target set for the calendar year. RVU Target - 3,000 - $20 / RVU. is that a good offer? i have never worked with RVU's before. Base salary seems low for a psych PA. Benefits are great/standard, etc. any ideas on how to negotiate for higher base salary or loan repayment?

  11. I see alot of 2 week post op Hip and Knee replacements. Until now I have always circled the global period no charge fee. I've been told that if you ask them about immunodeficiney issues that could effect the outcome of the procedure and healing (ie smoking, dm, vit d deficiency) then you can bill as a level 1. Is this true? Is there any way that I can bill and get RVU for a simple 2 week post of a TKA or THA? Thank you

Negotiating a family practice job in the Mountain West as a new grad, trying to get a feel for a) How much liability insurance I need if I'm not covered under my employer and b) How much reimbursement per RVU I should expect. MedEdge offers a 100k/300k claims-made for pretty cheap but I've been told by some to purchase no less than 1M/3M... Any thoughts? I've also been offered a productivity bonus at $30/RVU.
