  1. Thought I would get this page started! Good luck everyone!
  2. I am currently applying to PA school. My physician/boss/employer (ENT specialty) has offered to pay for my schooling if I work for him once I graduate. I have been working as his medical assistant for 3 years. We haven't discussed any details or specifics but I honestly don't know where to even start! Does anyone have any expereince with this and could offer some insight??? I'm flattered and excited but am hesitant since this is uncharted territory...
  3. Hello everyone on this forum! I have decided start on this beautiful journey of becoming a Physician Assistant. I will be graduating spring 2018 and I have decided to apply that summer. This means that if I get accepted into PA school I will resume my studies June 2019 (depending on the school). However, I have something I can't get off my head. Loan REPAYMENT. After I graduate college I have a 6 month period to start repaying my undergraduate loans. Of course I plan to work for that whole year and study a bit. But I don't know if I can afford to pay large amounts of loan repayments during that gap year. Is it possible that once I start my studies as a PA I will be able to "suspend" my payments until I am done with my studies? I am sure I am not the only student on this position, so let me know with previous experiences! Thank you so much! :-)
  4. Is there anyone else out there who applied for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program cycle this year? Does anyone know what scores got awarded last year? Has anyone gotten any feedback regarding their application for this year's cycle? Every time I call to find out when we will find out whether we got awarded, I get a different answer. Some people say July, some August, some September... Just seeing if anyone else is in the waiting game with me :)
  5. Hi Everyone - I am trying to create some specialty-related "top ten" lists for clinical rotations. I know there are a ton of emergency medicine PAs on here. A student is coming to rotate with you for a month. What would you say are the top 5-10 skills/competencies/misc that they must have learned by the end of their time with you?
  6. In August, my family will need a second car. It seems ridiculous to think so since it's just the two of us and we live in a city with ample public trans, but there it is. I'm wondering what the prevailing wisdom is on using student loans to buy something used outright. I took out WAY less than the max amount this year, so I could get more. I also have very good credit, so I could probably get a loan from a dealer (although I've never bought a car before so I don't know how that works). Any thoughts are welcome.
