  1. Hey guys my name is Geena and I'm a PA at a primary care in Philadelphia. We are currently hiring scribes and medical assistants (no experience required- we will train). This is a great opportunity for pre-PA's who need experience hours! Message me for details
  2. Hello! I was just offered a job as a new grad in psych at a private practice outpatient clinic in the Houston, Tx area. My hours would be 9-6 or (10-6 with no lunch break) Tuesday - Friday and a possible Saturday shift from 9-1 which I am clarifying now as to if this is set in stone or not since it was unclear. They told me I would be shadowing the first two weeks and then after that I will slowly see my own patients while consulting with the doc after each patient. They currently have one NP who they hired as a new grad and trained. Salary: I told them I was looking for 100k since t
  3. So I am applying for this cycle and I previously entered my job in experiences as current. after submitting the application I had to quit this job because it was a terrible work environment. However, it is in CASPA as current so idk what to do. I also got a new job but it doesn't start for another week and I was going to submit my apps this weekend so i am not sure how to go about this. Also is it better to apply sooner with less PCE or later with more PCE???
  4. I worked as a PRN rehab technician for about 3 months (roughly 20 hours a week) before I became Full-Time (40 hours a week). How do I record this change in hours? Do I make two separate entries or average the hours per week? My hours for PRN also varied each week, with weeks working up to 30 hours and sometimes only 15 hours. Do I need to record this somehow? I also do not understand how PA schools validate that the numbers of hours stated are honest. Is there some sort of validation document needed from each employer from past jobs. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!
  5. Hello all, I will be graduating from a PA program in western Ohio in about a month. I'm relocating to Pittsburgh after taking boards, and I was hoping for some advice regarding job searching and best places to work. My research has shown that the local job market is pretty saturated and salaries are low, especially through UPMC. I was wondering if anyone familiar with the area has recommendations of outlying towns and hospitals that could provide better job opportunities.

  9. I am a soon to be new grad currently in the NYC area looking at jobs in the NYC area as well as back in my home state of Pennsylvania. I was just wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to how they like working for Geisinger (salary, benefits, work load, etc.) I know the salary in PA isn't so great, but the pay here in NYC isn't much better, especially when you look at the cost of living. If I get a job through Geisinger I could live at home and put a large chunk of my salary towards paying off my loans. I am mainly interested in Emergency Medicine (if they even hire new grads?) and
  10. Is there a correlation between the prestige of a PA school's program and getting a job, or do your boards/GPA in PA school/whatever matter more?
  11. I have written a blog post that may be of use to you. It describes, in detail, the steps I took to get credentialed/ready to work after graduating from PA school. Steps to Take After Graduating from PA School

  13. I'm currently a 2nd year PA student and I'll graduate May 2018. i hear some of my classmates talking about applying for jobs already, but it seems too early. I've done some background research on different areas, openings, that kind of thing, but it seems early to actually apply for jobs. When should I start applying for jobs? Any advice is appreciated.

  17. Very interesting article Appears that the NCCPA filled Governor Jim Justice head with a bunch of alternative facts, but when the real facts came out he realized his error..... http://www.wvgazettemail.com/gazette-op-ed-commentaries/20170603/rafael-rodighiero-justice-prevails-with-bill-to-improve-patient-care Governor Jim Justice made the right decision this week to include House Bill 116, and its companion bill Senate Bill 1014, on his special legislative session agenda. This legislation enhances the ability of physician assistants (PAs) to provide health care to people who
  18. Hi everyone, I will be a new grad soon and looking for employment. My number 1 city I plan to look in for employment has significantly more NP job postings than PA. Has anyone had luck getting an interview from an NP posting? Or better yet, an offer? Were you basically convincing them why PA is better? Any advice is appreciated!
  19. I will be moving to Chicago after graduation in June - trying to get a feel for the place. I see some of the past posts are a bit outdated - so wanted to get the new skinny on things. Please feel free to answer some or all the questions below. For starters: 1. Average Salary for new PA grad 2. Are there any particular hospitals with any PA-ran services or known to be "PA friendly" for that matter? 22. I will be graduating soon and will be moving to Manhattan this summer. Are there any hospitals in the area that hire new PA grads to work the ER? EMed would be my top choice but the sense that I am getting is that new grads are generally not hired in the Manhattan are to work in the ED. I also know that NYP Cornell has a residency program for EMed, maybe that's where they pool their new grads from? I would be interested in looking for a position rather than a residency! Anyone that moved from a different field into EMEd in Manhattan? Thanks!
