  1. Hi there, EM PA here, our group is looking to moving towards single doc/PA coverage overnight, whereas we previously ended shifts around 1am. Wondering who of you staff overnight shifts and if you receive an overnight differential pay bump. If so, what is it? If you're more comfortable contacting me directly would be GREAT help. Attempting to get some data together to show higher ups its common for overnight diff in EM world. Also please include what state you work in. Thank you in advance!!!!
  2. Hello, Pre-PA here. I was wondering if anyone has insight into the current and likely future job market in the DFW area, or into saturated markets for PA's in general. I would intend to live in the DFW area after graduation. I gather that due to the presence of two PA schools and 3 NP schools in the area that we are pretty saturated. I'm trying to understand what this means in terms of current and future benefits and salary. I am a non-traditional applicant working a job with a good salary currently. I'm trying to justify foregoing 30 months of salary at my current job for school. According to data I saw, the average salary in the area is around $103,000. Is this likely to decline? Is it possible to make substantially more than this in the area with experience and ability? Are benefits like 401k match and PTO declining? Thank you for your help!
  3. I was wondering how long it took PAs to find jobs after graduating including the time to sign up for PANCE, get results, apply for work, and actually get their first pay check. I am trying to figure how many months off I will have before I can make payments on my student loans. Do federal student loans continue to be in deferment prior to finding work or do repayments kick in right after graduation? I won't have a job to begin payments right away so I guess I ought to take out extra loans or consider trying to save up to make up for this small period out of school and looking for work. Thank you in advance to everyone for their input!
  4. Hi everyone I need some advice. I am inquiring what others have done after they have obtained their HCE. I have been working as a RCA (Resident Care Associate/CNA) at an assisted living/memory care facility for almost a year (7 months) now and was wondering what others have done afterwards. I still need to take some prerequisites and take the GRE before I can even apply to PA school. I recently began to put ‘feelers’ out there (network), but so far no one has any ideas of what I should do next. I asked the NP (who works PRN at the same facility I do) and her response was “… go to nursing school.” I am considering taking a phlebotomy course or become a EMT to make myself more marketable, but I have found the job market in my surrounding community pretty slim (as it seems flooded with applicants). What can I else do, can anyone make any suggestions?
