  2. I'm going to be applying to PA school soon, as well as a slot for the HPSP for the Air Force. I was wondering if there was a scholarship that goes through the Army or if its the same scholarship as the Air Force. I would love as much info as I can get.
  3. FYI for my prior service colleagues: I’m in the process of finalizing, but it appears you can use 100% Institution of Higher Learning GI Bill benefits (not the “apprenticeship” 80% and tapering pay) during residency. I’m choosing to use the Montgomery GI Bill since it gives more money than the BAH of post 9/11 for my area, and with no tuition it’s all money in my pocket. Really going to help make up for that income loss. Note: HPSP and those who direct commission with loan repayment cannot use the Montogomery GI Bill, only HSCP recipients who paid in. Another reason HSCP is better, in my
  4. If you are either a Navy PA HPSP award winner or a Air Force PA HPSP award winner could you please share some of your experiences on your 3 year active duty requirement after graduating PA school. Please answer some of the questions below or if you want to just share your experience that would be much appreciated. Thank You :) 1.) After graduating PA school how fast did you get deployed? 2) How SAFE are the clinics or stations where you were deployed to? 3) Have you ever experienced a combat situation? 4) Do you have any choice as to where you get stationed? 5) How m

    VA HPSP

Hey all. Figured I'd post this since there are so many people messaging me and creating threads on the military HPSP (which appears to be no longer available to PAs). It appears that the VA is also creating an HPSP program that will be available to PAs and will begin to receive applications in January of 2016. Here's an excerpt from the VA website: In all honesty, I would say that this scholarship program is actually better than the military scholarship program for most people, especially if you have a family and are not prior enlisted, due to the lack of deployments and de
  6. Hello everyone, A little info about me: I've been working as a RN for a few years in the NICU and prior was in the I.T. field working for the government and the military. I'll be starting PA school this Fall 2016 (September) and I have submitted my HPSP packet for the Air Force complete and sent this month (August). I've read in the past that the HPSP cycle doesn't start till October, is this still correct? Also, based on the timeframe from previous post is it safe to say that the results from the board, depending on available slots for the scholarship, should be a month or two un
  7. Would anyone who has paid for PA school on an Air Force scholarship be able to talk a bit about their experience with that? I have only been accepted at one school so far, which will leave me graduating with about ~160K of debt. If this ends up being the only school I'm accepted to I'm still going to attend. I know it isn't smart to get into this much debt on a PA salary, but I don't want to wait around another year and go through another application cycle. Specific Questions: How long before starting PA school must one start the application process for this scholarship? Does t
  8. Hello everyone, I am currently in the process of applying for HPSP through the Navy. I will be going to MEPS on Friday and will be doing my interviews soon as well. I am looking for have my application in for the December review. My recruiter says that 11 scholarships have been awarded out of approximately 18. Anyone know what the chances are that I will get it? (GPA 3.79, GRE 1110, HCE 1250 hours) Also, after submitting the application...how long does it take to hear back about whether or not you've been accepted? Any information is helpful! It is my desire to serve my country
