Should I just take the time and got to AHA class in person?

  13. I'm not affiliated with them in any way except I am a fan of the platform and regularly post interesting case-based learning scenarios there. I just posted one about paraspinal angiosarcoma and have others on TBI, neurosurgical instruments, lumbar spine surgery, and more. It's all free and there's some good clinical discussion there. It's also common for folks to remain anonymous there, too, but not always. For example, you can fairly easily track me down based on my profile info, ha. Would be interested to learn if others are on this platform too.
  14. Any fun equipment/devices out there for a hospitalist? I have about $900 of CME funds leftover this year. I have a serviceable stethoscope I bought in April and can’t buy another one til next year (or I would spring for something fancy). I could always find some books, but I’d rather find gadgets. I have pretty wide leeway in using the funds. I can also use the money for iPhone apps, if anyone has favorites.
  15. Hello! I'm a new grad and recently received a job offer and contract. I wanted to see what other PAs thought and things I should negotiate since this is my first experience with this. Position is with a spine surgery practice in Texas: - Salary $90K with yearly bonus "at discretion of CEO." This seems a little low, but hard to negotiate as I have no experience. - 2 weeks paid vacation - In my interview they also stated that major holidays were off as well. Need to clarify if these would be paid or not. Is this reasonable time off or too little? - 5 days sick leave with doctor's n

  17. I am a PA at a FQHC looking to do a side gig injecting botox/fillers. The quality of my training in this area is of high importance. I have seen several 1-2 day training courses and I'd like something more in-depth and rigorous. Anyone have experience with an excellent training program in botox/fillers? TIA
  18. How much is too much to spend on CME? How does your CME allowance (if you have one) influence the programs you attend, if at all? I've been wondering lately how (if) this affects the medical knowledge of some individual clinicians. For example, does anyone feel that they aren't able to learn what they need to because they don't have room in their budget for a particular CME program/course/etc? I know this will also depend heavily on the program in question (I have no particular one in mind right now). I'll easily spend close to $2k for a good conference because I know it'll be reimbu
