  1. Here is a link to a google sheets that I have created to more easily access information on each of the schools in Florida and the requirement standards for acceptance or preference. All programs were retrieved from Stetson University website: https://www.stetson.edu/artsci/pre-health/physician-assistant.php , and all program details listed on the google sheet were obtained through each programs website URL in the Stetson link provided. I hope this can help anyone who finds it hard to look up this information and compare and contrast each of the programs, as it has for me. Note: The Prerequisite list does not always include if the lab is required. I have listed Hours next to some courses where permitted, and If the course required a lab I did not always list it, but instead just listed the hours included. Example: Microbiology is a 3hr course for me, So when I see that it is listed as 4hrs, I know that this means a Lab must be taken for that class. If anyone has any extra questions, Please do let me know, and I will try to answer. If I have left out anything or made any mistakes, Please let me know and I will fix them ASAP, but I feel that it is accurate at this point, with regards to all sections except the "Average acceptance GPA", as this information was harder for me to find. 2. I wanted to start a thread for all students that got into St. Croix class of 2018 so we could get to know each other a little better. Does anyone know if we have a Facebook page yet?
  3. Hi! Wanted to create an area for accepted students of Barry University's Class of 2020, Miami campus. Will you be attending?
  4. Hey all, CASPA open up soon, so I thought I'd open up this topic. I am a member of the class of '18 at Miami Shores. I interviewed at a few places last year that had the class above take care of communications related things, so I figured I'd follow suit. Also, for the accepted class into the Miami campus, one (or a few of us) will create your page so that we can answer any questions that you may have (Moving has been the most daunting issue for most of us). I'll be here for any questions. So feel free to PM me :D Of course, take multiple views into account, not just mine. Best of luck to everybody applying this cycle.
  5. Hey all, I know, I can hardly believe it myself but I am now a PGY3 in Family Medicine on the interview trail for a grownup physician job. I've been in SC for a decade and homesick for the Best Coast for quite some time. I just finished a beastly month on service medicine as the supervising resident over a team of 2 wet-behind-the-ears interns and a reasonable PGY2 with an average daily census of 19 (my half of the service) very sick medically complex inpatients. Left yesterday morning after checking out to the oncoming team and headed out for my first vacation since October. I woke up 3000 miles away in my hometown (Salem, Oregon) and it's 35 degrees cooler, overcast and perfect lol. I have an interview tomorrow for a somewhat intriguing supervising physician job for a large, well-established community health center here. I have an NHSC loan repayment obligation so it would work out well from that perspective with a HPSA score of 20 (my deal requires a minimum of 14 so we're good). My one hangup is it's exclusively outpatient as many CHCs are and I truly would miss hospital medicine...would probably try to find a moonlighting hospitalist gig nearby. But the vision I have for this job is to be an active physician educator. I would like to use the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine curriculum (a self-study module over 3 yr, easily adapted for outpatient PA/NP needs) as a basis for enhancing the education of PAs and NPs in our CHC. We are really creating this job from scratch--they've been advertising for over a year but haven't had many bites. Truthfully, not many folks like me exist who have been through both PA and physician education and worked actively in both professions. I think the CHC is quite open to my vision and willing to pay for it--not a lowball salary like so many CHCs. Eventually, I can see it working toward becoming a Teaching Health Center--my devious little plan, heh heh :) So...throw out ideas. I want to hear them all. I have 8 hr with these people tomorrow and anything you guys can help me think of before then is AWESOME. Thanks friends! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  6. Please feel free to share information regarding the application process/Barry University. Best of luck!
  7. Hello, I live in the Raleigh area. I have contacted Physician Assistants personally and have also contacted the surrounding Physician Assistant schools. Each response has basically been the same. Either the Physician Assistant has already promised others that they could shadow or they only provide shadowing experiences to people already in a Physician Assistant program. The university I am attending does not have a pre-health program so they're not sure how to help me. Please, if anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. If there is a Physician Assistant reading this that is available in the Raleigh, NC area, I would be forever grateful if you would allow me to shadow you. Thank you for reading.
  8. I recently took my PANCE (which I hopefully passed) and am currently looking for a job in CA. I've got my state licensure paperwork filled out and ready to go. The DEA paperwork/process, seems more complicated. Is this the correct form/website (Form 224): https://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/webforms/jsp/regapps/common/newAppLogin.jsp The business information and tax ID # requirements are throwing me off since I'm currently unemployed
  9. Hey everyone, I'm considering Barry and didn't find any stats on the accepted students. I may have just not found it, but could some of the recently accepted or current students give me some idea about the typical accepted applicant?
