  1. Hi everyone! I’m looking to take on some more pre-PA students who need help with CASPA review, personal statement brainstorming/editing and interview prep. I’m 4.5 years out of PA school with experience in NYC and Baltimore and am a former interview committee member! Please send an email to applyingtopaschools@gmail.com for more info and pricing!
  2. Hello everyone! My name is Yanka, I am a rising junior, and I recently decided to pursue a career as a PA-C. I chose this career path because I can study for an additional two years and get out into the real world to practice, I also prefer to study the Medical Model, and the work/life balance is very ideal because I love spending time with my family. I was just wondering if there are any opportunities for online shadowing, or any PA-C’s in Massachusetts or Rhode Island offering opportunities to shadow. Please let me know. Stay safe! Yanka.

  6. Hi everyone! Just wanted to share with you all on here that, in addition to this wonderful resource, there are also a bunch of Pre-PA mentors on instagram as well that can help inspire and motivate you! I thought I might start a topic so you can drop your favorites below and others can enjoy them as well! I'll start with my personal account, instagram.com/myPApal, where you can follow my journey through PA school starting next month! Feel free to DM me if you have any questions that you feel might be too sensitive to share on this sort of public forum.
  7. Hi all! So I am shadowing a PA again tomorrow that I shadowed earlier this month. She reached out to me after I sent her a letter at her practice expressing my desire to shadow. She was eager to answer my questions and go into detail explaining each patient case to me. I was wondering what questions would be good to ask her tomorrow. Would it be appropriate to ask her if she would be willing to write a letter of recommendation? To shadow her again? If she would be willing to serve as sort of a mentor to me over email? I don't want to be too forward, but I do eventually need a letter of rec fro
  8. Exciting News! The American Association of Surgical PAs will be hosting a Pre-PA Information and mentoring session in ORLANDO FLORIDA JANUARY 20th, 2017. It will be held at the Doubletree MCO hotel. There will be a 2 and a half hour coaching session and plenty of time after for practice interviews and essay reviews. 9. Hey all Just graduated end of July and am starting my first job in Family med with a large group with multiple offices. The office I'm starting in is perfect with 2 physicians and another PA that has been a mentor to me. However, just found out that apparently I'm being moved to a different office with 2 NPs in less than a month. Unsure how to proceed as I really don't feel like I'll be successful in an office with no physician and without anyone I'm comfortable asking questions to so soon. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  10. Hello, My name is Adam Olson-Bouchareb, I am a non-traditional Pre-PA/Pre-Med student. I graduted from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2014 with a 3.79 GPA; BA Environmental Science. I have been working as a Chemist I at Pace Analytical Life Sciences for the past year. I want to transition to a medical career. 11. I'm looking for an opportunity to shadow a PA in Palm Beach County, FL or counties near Palm Beach, for application requirement of PA program. I currently have a 3.9 GPA, and work as a student tutor and Student Instructor (SI) for college level biological sciences and math at my local University where I attend school. I am finishing up a bachelor's degree in Health Science, but need to shadow a PA to apply to the program at my school upon completion of my degree. 12. Hi, I graduated from from my undergrad last May, I have been working as a medical scribe since graduation in the ED of four hospitals as a part of Lifespan Corporation. I have accumulated 1400 hours of experience to date. After working and meeting many different types of PAs through work I have decided that PA is the perfect fit for me, but this is where things start to worry me. I graduated with an overall GPA of 2.47 with a BS in Biology and minor in chemistry. My four years at School were plagued by a few miss fortunes, such as learning I have ADHD half way through and others, that le
  13. I am a relatively new PA working in Orthopedic Surgery in the Pacific NW. Originally from New England. I'm hoping to establish a professional mentorship with an experienced PA. I'd like someone to discuss topics such as professional development, evolving medical practice, contract negotiation, the business of medicine, and possibly even transitioning to academic setting eventually. I work predominantly with younger PAs and so haven't found anyone willing or able to mentor. Any recommendations or if you have general interest yourself, please feel free to message me. Thank you. -JT
  14. Hi, I just started a new job as an outpatient internal medicine PA. I've never worked in this setting, and I'm wondering if there are resources for learning from docs/other PAs who have worked in the field. I hate to bug the doc I work with about every little question, and I feel it would be helpful to go over some things with a mentor. I'm finding that UpToDate, Currents, etc. are great, but need help with real-life patient encounters - i.e. dealing with patients who demand antibiotics and such.
  15. Hi everyone, can some kind people help me understand all about precepting. What is the difference between a preceptor, a mentor or a professor/instructor? Don't PA schools usually assign preceptors to students before clinicals or didactics? Do you find your own in PA school, or do you have to wait until you are working in the field? How do you find one? Is there a list? How available are they for you? How qualified are they? Do they get paid? Do they volunteer their time? Are there goals that need to be met between both parties or just one? Do they follow you from room to room or do you follow
