  1. What are your thoughts about non-compete clauses for PAs working in surgical specialties and how to negotiate them in (or completely out of) a contract? I live in a relatively small city and was recently offered a position with a surgical subspecialty within a hospital system. The non-compete clause is for the term of the agreement AND a period of 1 year following separation for a distance of 20 miles. As a PA in a surgical specialty we are never the primary provider because we can't perform surgery. At most we are working up new patients to determine surgical candidacy and usually per
  2. Can anyone share some good questions to ask during a neurosurgery or vascular surgery interview? I have worked as an ortho PA for years and am looking to make a change. I generally know what to look for in a position but don't know what I don't know about working in either of these particular specialties. I am looking for a little guidance from someone who is in or has previously spent time working in either of these specialties so that I can avoid being taken advantage of like I have while in ortho. What do you wish you had known or someone had told you to look into before accepting the p

  5. I've looked into UNE (Biochem), UC Berkley (Biochem, Genetics) and Univ of Phoenix (Genetics). All are online and I was told that all would be accepted as prereqs, but that it was recommended to take UNE or UC Berkley. Reviews for the courses at both of those schools are mixed and both have open enrollment according to what I've seen. The only downside to UC Berkley is that there is a final exam at the end of the course in which you are required to set up your own proctor and testing location (depending on where you're located). Since both have mixed reviews, I'm leaning towards UC Berkley
  6. Hi. I am preparing for several upcoming interviews and was curious if anyone can answer approximately how many questions you are typically asked in a 20-minute interview? Also, if you have two different sessions with different interviewers, is there likely to be overlap or has the committee already sorted that out in advance? Thanks for the help!
  7. I have one on August 19. CASPA was verified May 30
  8. Alternate spot for what? An alternate spot into the program or an alternate spot to interview?
  9. has anyone received any communication recently?
  10. I am not local. I will be flying in on Sunday night in the event of any bad weather, flight issues, etc.
  11. Hi! They do send out a confirmation email. I received one on July 18. My CASPA app was verified on 5/30
