  1. CA is a huge state with wide variability in pay based on regionality. Are you North, central, or SoCal? Assuming you said that it is a lower cost of living area, I am assuming it is not SoCal. It seems as if $60/hr is the standard rate for new grad pay in SoCal..so I'd argue that you should be paid more to start in central or NoCal. Benefits sound great though.. but is there any 401k? What kind of malpractice coverage?
  2. Hello all, I am a soon to be new grad and I was asked by an employer what duties/scope I would be allowed to perform if I was certified as a PA-C but still waiting for my california license. Can anyone shed some light on this? He was proposing I could shadow in that time but I thinking I should still be compensated if I were to do that. I've only had a phone conversation so far and no formal interview yet as I am currently out of state.
  3. Just got my acceptance today! Apparently they lost my email in the system so don't be afraid to call the admissions office to track the status
  4. Does the admissions committee have access to how many schools you're applying to? I feel like I've been asked this question at every interview and I'm not sure how straight of an answer I should be giving them. For Law schools this is a posted statistic: the acceptance to application ratio, as in they want to give out the least acceptances and receive the most yes's. But I'm afraid they have access to this information so I've been giving them the exact number of schools. What do you think?

  6. I am a little disappointed in the way SU handles their screening process or at least administration work. I submitted my CASPA early June and in early July they notified me that I had been disqualified due to missing prereqs. I promptly emailed them asking them which prereqs I was missing since I knew I was not missing any and I got an unusual response. After about an exchange of 10 emails between the administration assistant, they told me I was missing chem and bio labs--which I did take. I showed them my transcript and listed out the course #s and descriptions but after I did that she stopped replying. I am thinking that she made a mistake and did not want to fess up to it. I then proceed to call the office the next morning and not to my surprise, no one picks up. I even left a voice message but no one replied back to me. I emailed her that day asking if she had a chance to review my application once again and the only response was "I hope I can get back with you today". No replies since then. I am sure that this program offers a great PA education and has wonderful faculty, but I am just disappointed in the way they handle their admission processes when there is an error. It really irks me when someone knows they are in the wrong but does not want to admit it. tl;dr: SU screwed up my application, did not want to admit it, and I was disqualified as an applicant.
  7. http://www.salus.edu/physicianAssistant/pa_Profile2012.pdf Check out that link--it lists the number of applicants and number of seats they offer.
  8. My CASPA got verified on June 21st, i think i submitted my app like 2 weeks before that..
  9. Hi all I wanted to start a thread for this years application cycle since there isn't one yet. I have an interview coming up on Aug 27th. I am not sure if this is the first one or not--anyone else know?
  10. http://ubpai.wordpress.com/ Latest post says the process is going smoothly and a few have already passed it.. I thought the program had to be accredited to sit for the exam?
  11. I think what most applicants are concerned with is the provisional accreditation status. Do you see any major faults that the program has that may affect it from getting accredited or causing poor PANCE results? How well do you think the program is preparing you for the PANCE/exams/as a PA?
  12. Hey all, looks like there wasn't a thread started for this years application cycle so I went ahead and started one.
  13. I was invited to the Aug 2nd interview today. Good luck to the earlier interviewers! Whenever I look for information about UB, issues regarding crime and safety always come up. What neighboring towns would you guys recommend staying in for the school year or at least for interviews?
