  1. Hello Fellow PAs I am a PA transitioning to Plastic Surgery. I am currently at a cosmetic practice in Illinois. Does anyone know what are the laws of PAs in Plastic surgery. A doctor wants me to infiltrate/tumsecent patients as well as do liposuction. Does anyone know if that's allowed in Illinois? Tried to research it but can't find anything. Thanks for all your help,
  2. No it was not a troll posting. Thank you all for your responds.
  3. Reason I asked..I work in orthopedics and doing any procedures I am the assistant to a physician. Other than injections and casting while in the office, I assist with all procedures. Not knowing anything about other specialties, I found it surprising that at this office, PA was doing the procedures when the doc was not even in the room. It was just a question.... sorry I offended anyone
  4. Hi Everyone. Just a quick question??? Does anyone know if PAs can perform balloon sinoplasties????
  5. Thanks everyone for your input. I understand that trying to get into derm will be very difficult, but some physicians are willing to train. I just need to find that one in my city :)
  6. I did look into that and not many derm residency and are out of state. I'm married with 2 kids, so that is not option for me. Most private practice want PA with experience and are not willing to train :( so I thought med spa would be a good place to get some aesthetic experience. I have actually send out resumes to few dermatologist in the area and have not heard anything back. When I followed up, they are not interested :( Its so frustrating....
  7. Hello everyone. I am looking to change careers and try to get into Dermatology. However, without any experience or at least 2 years, no one is willing to even give me time of day for an interview, especially since most of the doctors go through recruiters. So here is my question... I am looking into facial aesthetics... anyone work at a med spa where you perform face botox, fillers etc..??? would this be a good place to start and get experience to later try to get into dermatology??? I have mostly orthopedics experience, but did rotation in derm/plastics in school which I really enjoyed :)
  8. Thanks wilso2ar :) Yes....Us is difficult....I just can't see much. you do your own set up for injection....but after much practice I'm sure i'll do fine....I haven't signed the contract yet b/ c there are few things I don't like...such as he told me contract for 2me years ....and in contract its stated 3 years ... that's a long commitment! !! I don't even have my cell phone contract for that long!!! Another issue I ran into was tha tafter termination i can't work within 15 mile radius! I think that's ridiculous....I live about 2 Miles from the clinic and if working there will make me wor
  9. How long did it take you to be comfortable with these injections? I am really nervous.... it will be be and NP running the clinic and doc will be in another clinic about 5 MILES away... I am nervous about seeing patient every 15 min as I don't know how long it will be take me to do injection and write office note! Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for me? The docs are very confident in PAs and think I can work independent!
  10. Thanks for all your replies. The job is in Illinois. Hours 9 am-7pm. 3 days a week. Full time available whenever I want it. He did mention there is productivity bonus. The only thing I have to ask is about 401K but don't know if that has to be offered if one is part time. For those if you in this specialty....what is your typical day...how many patients do you see....mine would be every 15 min... what type of injections do you prrform....
  11. Hello all, I have been in ortho for past 6 years. I recently had a baby and decided to go back part-time. Of course my current employer is not very happy and is only wanting me full-time (which I understant). Anyways, I have only been making 70k annually so I started to look for another position. All ortho positions are full time only so I decided to change specialties. I did get an offer in physical medicine and rehabilitation where PAs and NPs are utilized to give variety of injections (Us guided knee injections, trigger, SI etc...) It is a part time position M, W, Th 9am-7pm.. No wee
  12. I haven't gotten a raise for the past 4 years. I brought up to them that I make less than a new grad and their response was that if I work extra I'll make that much, meaning if I work after hours and weekends I can make that much assuming there are cases to assist in. I recently gave birth to my daughter (3 weeks ago) and thought this was a good time to look around. I saw an opening for PA in rehab medicine but don't know much about it. I like ortho and all, but I'm getting tired of being used and abused without any reward....and empty promises
  13. thanks for the link. It doesn't sound too good though :(
  14. Hello, I am currently an ortho PA and I'm considering switching specialties. I did run across a job in rehabilitation medicine. Does anyone know what is PAs role in rehab medicine? thanks
