  1. Hey guys, so its been a while since I was last here. But much has changed. I graduated college about two years ago. After college I started volunteering at the ER on the weekends and I fell in love with the medical world. I didn't know what a PA was until I started volunteering. But I thought this might be my career. My plan was to become an EMT and become a ER tech and take my prereqs to apply for PA school. However, life had a suprise for me I was having back pain and eventually tingling down my left leg. I had an MRI done that relieved an intradural tumor in my lumbar area. I had invasi
  2. Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I was wondering if anyone here in the socal region (more specifically la county) is currently taking prereqs for pa school. I was wondering were you guys are getting your classes and if any of you have had issues getting the classes you need? I probably wont start until this coming spring term but I just want to know how everyone is approaching getting their prereqs done. Thanks!

  5. Even though I am not a PA or a student, I was wondering what your guys opinion on the subject matter is. If none of you have read it, it is long but for me, it was quite eye opening http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,969453,00.html
  6. Hey guys, Ive been shadowing a PA at my local ER. Ive probably shadowed 5 PA around my area. 2 of them had told me to not go into the PA profession. Specifically, one was telling me he knows PA's that are graduating and cant find jobs. He proceeds to tell me that nurses are better paid than he is, and that he would have done nursing all over again. He gets no PTO and no retirement benefits. He says he has to work about 6 days a week to equal some nurses working 3 days of work. However i see some faults in his arguments. 1. I think he is unwilling to relocate for a better job due to certain ob
  7. Hi everyone, I will first off and say that this is an awesome forum with lots of good folks as far as I can tell. So let me start out by giving you a little bit about my situation. I am 23 going on 24 and I graduated about 6 months ago with a BA in psychology. Luckily I did not graduate with any debt and i currently have no financial obligations and I am currently single with no kids. I live at home and I do not need to pay rent. I currently am in banking, and I am about to be promoted and there is a possibility that i might become assistant manager in a year or so, but I dont feel that bankin
  8. Hi guys, I didnt know wether or not to post this here or in the pre PA forum but anyways here i go. So for the last year or so, Ive been volunteering at my local ER just to give back some time to community. However, I never thought the heath profession would be my thing and I am always enjoying my time that I put in at the ER. I am about to graduate college with my BA in psychology, so I know I would want to get some HCE as an emt or MA after college and go back to community college to take my science prereqs, as the only thing close to a science class I took was psychopharmocology and biopsyc
  9. Hi guys, Ive been reallt looking to do shadowing experience for the PA profession. I tried doing it through my clinical volunteer program Im doing right now at Queen of the valley. However, I have had no luck as of now. I was wondering If anyone on here knows or is willing to let me shadow them. Any information is very much appreciated. Thanks :;-D:
  10. Hey guys, new to the site but Ive been lurking around. Anyhow, I currently volunteer at a local hospital were i actually get to have hands on experience in terms of taking vitals and what not. I will be graduating from college this spring in psychology. I currently work at a bank but im starting to realize its not for me and I am also starting to realize that I am falling in love with the whole healthcare field. I know i will need to take certain science classes for my prereqs which arent to much of a concern. However, for HCE experience I am looking into doing emt as I hear that its great exp
