  1. I did the same exact thing. I took Chemistry 1 from a university and some general education requirements from a local community college while I was in the 12th grade. I had no problems with them counting toward my pre-reqs.
  2. Dr. Najeeb is awesome!! I watch his videos for free on youtube and he definitely got me through neuro and the cardiac cycle. The videos are long but worth the time.
  3. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!! I am in the class of 2014 and am so glad you all are choosing to attend Methodist. When you are assigned a PA buddy make sure you utilize them and ask any questions you might have. Also, if you have any additional questions you can feel free to email me at lelovette@student.methodist.edu. Well, guess i'll get back to studying for exams but again congrats and PLEASE enjoy your free time while you have it lol.
  4. Hi! I am a current student at Methodist and received the grant you are talking about. I just wanted to let you know that if you get the grant you are not required to actually work 5 years in primary care, but they would like you to. It benefits recertification of the grant if the recipients work in primary care for 5 years upon graduation, but you will not have to pay back the grant if you decide to work in another area. You may also want to look into the NHSC scholarship. It is for people who want to work in primary care and will pay for ALL of your expenses.
  5. I was given about a month to decide, but my deposit was $1000.
  6. There are a few opportunities for physician assistant students and current providers to receive scholarships or loan repayment. I am currently a PA student receiving the national health service corps scholarship. I receive a monthy stipend and all of my educational costs are taken care of. All that I have to do is work at an approved site in an underserved area for the number of years that I receive assistance (will be about 3 years because they round up). So, there are options other than loans out there if you want to minimize the amount of debt that you leave school with.
  7. @fdamico1985: We are talking about the National Health Service Corps Scholarship. You can find out more info on it at their website. @live4tomorrow:I received a finalist email around August 3. I'm not sure if they are still sending out awards because we have an introduction to NHSC webinar this saturday (September 29)
  8. I got my award email today!! I wasn't expecting to hear anything until next month, but I guess they must have known that the anticipation was killing me lol. I hope everyone else is receiving good news too :-)
  9. I received an email on 8-3-12 stating that I was a finalist and I had 5 days to email back various forms. It also states that I will be notified by September 30 if I am awarded a scholarship and they will notify people who did not receive the scholarship by October 12. Good Luck everyone who applied!
  10. I also applied and cannot believe it is taking so much more time than the original award date. But good luck and post if you hear anything!! :-)
  11. As far as i know, CASPA doesn't do anything to verify your application. The schools you apply to might ask for verification of HCE hours, but I did not run into this problem. I think most of them will just go on your word.

  13. So you're saying that master's level PA's are not up to par with NP's??
