  1. Hello all, I am going to be a second year PA-S as of 8/19/2013. I will begin my hospital rotations in general surgery. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on books to buy to carry at the hospital and/or read at home? So far I have Current Surgery & High Yield Surgery and I will be carrying a Pocket Bates for my PE (at least in the beginning). I've been told Washington Manual is good, does anyone recommend any other books in particular to purchase? Thanks, Brian Montgomery, PA-S

  3. Congrats to those of you who have received an acceptance letter! Looking forward to meeting you guys at the picnic in August. To those of you who did not get accepted, don't give up. Correct the issues you had that got you dismissed and try again next year. Take some classes during this next year and improve your GPA, etc..and reapply. Good luck to everyone. 5. Ktcan10, I would recommend meeting with an advisor at the moreno valley campus. It does not have to be a faculty member associated with the PA program as any advisor at the college can give you the information you are looking for. Alternatively, you can pm me any concerns you may have. I am a first year student in the program and I can most likely answer any questions you have. Goodluck with your application.
  6. 1 time here. And yes will still consider reapplicants on an equal basis as new applicants granted you weren't denied admission for a reason such as incomplete HCE hours or missing prerequisites/not qualifying for prerequisites, etc.. Additionally, from what I understand, admission is not completely a "lottery" style acceptance. The admissions committee narrows down applicants based on qualifying vs non-qualifying students then places the remaining students in tiers & selects from these based on whatever criteria they use. Goodluck to all the 2013 applicants. Hope to see some of you next ye
  7. Hey guys, Has anyone heard an update about american databank (the company that will do our background check & everything?) I thought we would know by friday but maybe the school is waiting until this week? I called american databank last week & the price of everything, including background checks, immunization tracking, employment history, drug testing, and anything else they do, will be included in a package for $97. Although the person I spoke with had no information that she could provide on how to register or when we will be able to complete everything.
  8. Pangea, I did not see anything in the packet on instructions for drug testing. I'm not sure if that means we do not do the drug screening portion of american databank background check or if they will give us further instructions later. I know in pams email to all of us, she stated that this is a new company performing the background checks but maybe she has insight as to whether we have to do it or which test we choose. Also, I'm sure she can let us know if this was a requirement for the previous class. Also I believe the packet says that the website will be accessible on july 15 so we have a
  9. To all students buying their books, FYI just as launchbrick said that he got the 6th edition of "The Common Symptom Guide", I also realized that their is most likely a typo on the booklist and it should say the 6th edition and not the 5th edition. The ISBN number given as well as the publication date for this book are for the 6th edition.
  10. Student_559, I am also a UCR alumni and took the Physics series here as well. I used my 2A grade b/c it was sufficient for the program however, I believe you can use any of your physics classes (2A, 2B, or 2C). I am not 100% sure on this but I believe it would not be a problem. When I applied for Western, they told me I could use any math or physics class that I wanted and encouraged that I use the classes with the highest grades. Again, I am not positive on RCC's application but I can tell you that with a C-, they will probably NOT accept the grade. I would call and speak with someone els

  13. I hope everyone had enjoyed their 3 day weekend, so I checked my mail from saturday & the only I had was credit card offers & coupons. Nothing from rcc. Anyone else received anything yet? Seeing as how MUSCILV said the secretary told him packets will go out by the last week of May, I'm hoping that tuesday or wednesday will be the day they get sent out. I know they are & have been very busy but it seems to me like we are cutting it close & getting down to the wire. I want to have as much time as possible to get anything and everything taken care of. I'm going to schedule a meeti
