  1. Hello everyone, I am currently in the middle of gathering privileges at a number of different hospitals/surg centers... And one thing that I need to get straight before I complete all applications is my malpractice insurance. Those of you who are independent contractors, any advice on how I should go about getting the best deal? Or is it pretty much the same wherever i go? I just figured some would fight to have my money heh Any help is appreciated :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hello all! I will be graduating next month, cant wait! I am currently seeking an orthopedic position w/ OR/office hour split opportunity. I am living in NY now but would be willing to travel for the right gig. My ortho rotation wants to hire me on but the hospital won't allow any more full time positions (part time only). My goal is to become a very skilled ortho PA in/out of the OR, so I do not want to settle for part-time just yet. If anyone knows of any teaching hospitals looking for PAs to add to their ortho service please msg me. My background is in athletic training/PT. Thank you for your time, wish me luck :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Graduate in December. Will take boards in January. Hoping to find a full-time ortho position (clinical/surgical assist). Background in athletic training, kinesiology degree, physical therapy tech, orthopedic surgical rotation during PA clinical year. Have many references from practicing orthopedic physicians/PAs. 4. Ahhh I see. Well that would make sense. Surprised it took them this long to restrict exposure. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Any word on packrat 17?? I am going to be taking my boards in a little over a month and would love to have the most recent packrat... jjdavies05@gmail.com Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Received my acceptance letter from Kim H. yesterday... I interviewed back in August, wait listed, now I am committed to another program... I did not follow up with the wait list much (there was 3-4 on the list, back in Sept) but I have heard they use their entire wait list each year for accepting students. For those of you currently on the wait/alt list, hope this helps :)
  7. My guess, there should be plenty of seats left. I only know of 4-5 committed students (35 seat class). Hope this helps.
  8. I plan to send that info in shortly... Or hand it in when I come to visit next month.
  9. Welcome :) I probably should share a little about myself. My name is Jon, I am 24 and live in Arizona. I graduated from ASU with a degree in kinesiology and currently work as a physical therapy technician. We are in the same boat... I am trying to find housing ASAP. Let me know if you find anything. Pm me for contact information
  10. Had all of my immunizations/TB skin test/labs done Friday.... H1N1/more labs done today... I think my body is trying to figure out why i am letting these MAs poke me with so many needles lol. MMR to the triceps, burrrnned! Anyways, good to see another soldier with us. Can't wait to fly out. Maybe we can coordinate something and meet up while I am in town apartment hunting (do not have a set date just yet). I am working around biochemistry and the physical therapy clinic, but i should have it planned very soon :) Hopefully more accepted students begin to chime in over the next few weeks.
  11. Wow you are awesome! I will post the places I had my eye on once I get home tonight. Again, thank you so much for taking the time... I am coming from the west coast and do not know anyone in NY :( I plan to come out soon and get my housing situation out of the way. I was thinking of living relatively close to winthrop hospital (approx. 10-15min). I figure living closer to the city would help on the days when we are commuting to Bayshore (traffic: driving in the opposite direction of rush hour traffic). Plus, I have yet to see many legit options around the Bayshore campus. We'll have to share contact info, I will message you soon. Thanks :)
  12. A bit of advice, when you feel nervous... Think about how excited you are to interview, begin PA school and become a PA (don't let yourself think negatively). I am sure you have worked very hard to be in this position. Fortunately, you have won half the battle, they know you are a good candidate for their program (objectively)... Now, you are well ahead of the other applicants who DID NOT interview or did not interview well. It is time to express your hard work and passion to the people who are already interested in you as an applicant (subjective part). My experience: They did not make me feel uncomfortable or play good cop bad cop, try to be yourself... It's funny, when people say "just be yourself" (ok, it is definitely easier said that done), but it is truly the best advice. I wish you the best and remember to relax, they want to get to know you. I hope this helps :/
  13. You have any housing advice for someone that is not a resident?
