Let me guess. You work for EmCare are HCA hospital. I have no idea how they come up with 60 minutes. I just do my best and time stump my chart when I pick up and discharge patients. I no longer worry about things beyond my control. If it takes one hour for xray or the RN takes another hour to actually discharge patient after I discharge, this is not my problem. Working in Ethiopia would be amazing. As far as adjustments, you would have no problem. Ok speaking of solo coverage, from business point of view, do you guys think it is smart to take all the risk of malpractice that the doctors take while earning possibley 3x your rate I get the point of having that autonomy and helping the underserved. And I quickly said " you can see the Dr but you will have to come back another time when he is here" and I gave her a choice and informed her that I have other patients eagerly waiting to see me. We are also pressured to discharge the quick ones from triage and see everyone with in 10 minutes of their arrival. This also includes patients arriving via ambulance. In addition to arrival to greet time, they track arrival to first order time. Overall, this is my least favorite part of my job. I know what you mean. I always dread these shifts. When you have to briefly talk to almost 100 patients per shift in triage. In addition, I always feel bad when I interrupt patients in the middle of conversation. Pts think that you are the provider who takes care of them and want to tell you the entire story.
