  1. Thank you for both of your advice. They are helpful and I agree with all that you have both said. 1. I have 8 years of working experience. This was an initial interview so they did not go into the details of how many nts/wkend work requirements. Commute is 25 mins 2. The vacation package is horrible. The CEO ‘s excuse for the horrible vacation package was “ since we are a 7/24 facility and we can just closed for the holidays, we have 16 days off.. but you don’t have to work all of the holidays. “ 3. Ventana you mentioned the 3wks vacation min. Is this typical or is just more true for some states? WI ( major hospitals) has 2 Wks vacation min for new grads. Thank you! Holiday's 10-13 days a year Vacation - 3 weeks min as a new grad - 5 weeks is sweet CME - 3-4 days Sick/Personal 5-10 days (higher is in gov't employee)
  2. Hello, I am looking for advice on salary for a Pa-C position in charge on a 16 bed Detox wing. I would be responsible for supervising a nurse and a CNA. Also, I would have to work some weekend, nights and some holidays. 1. What would be a good salary range for this dual medical / management role? 2. The job only provides 16 days of ( lumping it all together) PTO, sick and national holiday and CME days off. Should I ask for a higher compensation for this limited vacation package? thank you in advance!
  3. Hello all, I have been putting in a lot of thought about starting my own clinic but I don’t where to start? I live in WI and I don’t know if a PA can be the sole owner of a clinic? I know I have to have a collaborative doctor but does this person have to own part of my clinic in order for my clinic to be legal? Does anyone know if a PA can own their business in WI? Anyone know of any medical business lawyers they can pass their names over? What would be the next steps? are their any books or resources available on this topic? I would appreciate any help or feedback Thank you !

  5. Need advice. I I want to get my CAQ in psychiatry and the requirement is 2000 hours of working in the behavioral health field. have been working in correctional medicine for 5 years and addiction/ recovery medicine for 2 years. I have dabble in treating behavior health patients but do these years qualify for 2000 hours of working in psychiatry field? Do I need to complete additional graduated programs in psych before I can get the CAQ? Does anyone know of an online program for PA to get additional training in psychiatry? Thank you so much.
  6. I have been working in correctional medicine for 5 years and addiction medicine for 2 years. I feel my scope of practice is very narrow and I am looking to expand my skill set into mental health. I found a clinic that is willing to train me for 2 weeks in mental health and it has ongoing support. Unfortunately, it’s 1099 and the job’s hourly rate is so low $55/ hr. The clinic will pay for health insurance, which I need to support my 2 kids. Is it worth it to sign up for such a low paying job just so I can break into mental health and making my resume more marketable for future jobs?
  7. Thank you ( think and ventana) for supporting my decision to keep my reputation clear of negative legal issues. Your comments really made me feel better that I did the right thing. Sometimes the right is hardest thing to do.
  8. I was presented with a lucrative 1099 contracting job. I was going to sign on but I found that the collaborative doctor was sued for malpractice in 2018. It was reported in two different newspapers that he had sexual relations with his a patient and he spent time in jail in 2006. I really wanted the lucrative paycheck but I told the clinic I had to pass. I didn’t want my name associated with this crazy doctor. I wanted to keep my license clear of any negative legal issues. But why do I still feel regretful that I passed up a lucrative deal?
