  1. I appreciate your honesty, although I have to say that it would have been nice to hear these things prior to choosing SMU over other programs. I don't necessarily regret my decision; however, I do wish there was more transparency during the application process so that students could make the best decision possible in regards to where they pay for their education.
  2. I just received my interview for March! I was pretty set for Samuel Merritt, but how could I miss out on an opportunity to interview with USC?? I'm very excited!!
  3. I know exactly how all of you expressing doubt feel, and I think it's important to note that the odds are in your favor. Over 2000 people applied this year to the program. Of that, I believe only 160 people were offered interviews. There are 44 seats in Oakland and 24 ? twenty something seats for Fresno. Right off the bat, assuming there are 24 seats in Fresno, that's 68 seats total. They said after each interview, 10 to 12 of their TOP candidates are offered seats immediately. Let's say they only offer 10 top candidates seats per interview, so that's their top 18.7% of
  4. Oh, I hope not! Thank you for the response!
  5. Hey all!! I gave up my seat yesterday for another program in California. Good luck to all who are waiting to hear back!!
  6. Hey all! My program begins September 2019 and I am really excited to apply. Anyone know when the application opens for this year?
  7. Thank you! I was accepted at the Oakland campus! I selected the box at the interview that was only Oakland
  8. I just got an email!! I guess they couldn't get in touch with me via phone?? But I'm in!!!!!
  9. I interviewed in November. They didn't inform me, I just called and asked for my status
  10. I don't mind at all! It's the Samuel Merritt phone number listed on the website, 510-879-9200
  11. Just so people know, I ended up calling Lori a few weeks back and she told me I was wait listed. My top choice is in Cali, but hopefully y'all find this helpful!
  12. So I actually missed a call yesterday from the program. I tried calling back, but couldn't get in touch with any faculty so I left a voice message for Dr. DeRosa. I've only been mildly freaking out since noticing that I missed the call, so hopefully it's good news!!??!!
  13. I have the same inquiry as Nicole! Did anyone from the 1/19 interview hear back yet?
  14. Hey everyone! It was such a pleasure meeting some of you on Saturday I was in the restroom during the beginning of them explaining when we should start hearing back. I believe some people will hear back this week, and then the rest of us in March? Did they mention particular dates? Will we hear back via a call, email or letter? Thank you!
  15. It's a series of group interviews (2 with faculty members, 1 with students). I enjoyed the interview. It was informative, and the faculty was generally kind. I am sure they switch up the writing topic; from what I've gathered, the writing portion is more about proving that you can write rather than the content of what you write.
  16. I was offered a seat and gave it up! Good luck to everyone starting this January!!
  17. I applied to the Oakland campus only and received an email invitation to interview!! I'll be at the first session, 1/19
  18. I am going to be purchasing PANCE Prep Pearls, Pathophysiology Made Ridiculously Simple, and part I of Step-Up to Medicine. I already have Rapid Interpretation of EKG's by Dubin (btw, do not buy this book brand new if you can help it- the guy's in prison for child pornography and still makes money from selling his book). I downloaded MedScape and the Doses Calculator, but I already had Epocrates, Guideline Clinical App (Cardiology), and Doximity, all of which I like a lot. As for school supplies, I'm just going to get the basics - pens, paper/notebooks, highlighters, pencils, some 3-ri
