  1. I really appreciate the honest feedback. I wanted to give a little more background about my situation. I am taking a week long board review after graduation. I will be graduating at the top of my class. I have scored really well on PACKRATs/EORs. I fully understand that the PANCE is a beast and am prepared to put in the hours to pass. I plan on only working part-time and will put in the study hours after work if need be. I can always take a couple of weeks off before I sit for the PANCE to invest more time. Some extra income on the side while I’m studying for the boards just seems appealing to
  2. Downstate's clinical sites are diverse, reputable, and plentiful. They are affiliated with multiple hospitals in the 5 boroughs of NYC. You will get to see all sorts of patients from different backgrounds.
  3. Hi! I wanted some guidance from PAs who went the route of applying for a limited permit in order to work before getting licensed. I will be a fresh graduate this coming August and have been offered a job at my FM/PC rotation site. The idea of applying for a limited permit and working part-time at their office, maybe 3 days/week, while studying for my boards seems practical. What do you guys think? What would be the ballpark salary that I should push for as an unlicensed PA in a primary care setting in NYC? Any input from seasoned, professional PA-Cs would be appreciated!
  4. Bump*** I am also looking for more information regarding this program...
  5. Hi, I’m a PA student at Downstate currently in my clinical year. I have rotated with a few PA students from CUNY Sophie Davis’ program and I think Downstate is comparatively the better choice. I’ve heard that the faculty is not very supportive at CUNY and they don’t have as many clinical site options as Downstate does. They have also told me that their clinical skills lab was lacking due to budget constraints and they did not feel comfortable performing things like venipuncture and IVs. In my opinion, Downstate is the better option. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Congrats!! I am an accepted student and the Dean informed us today that they will be accepting 5 more applicants to increase our current class size from 40 to 45. They have plans to further increase the class size to 60 in the future. Welcome and congrats!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
