  1. Hi everybody. I have a job interview in a couple of days for a hospital medicine position at a NYC hospital. The talent acquisition specialist I talked to on the phone said the salary for new grads is 102k and is part of 1199 union. I've never done any job interviews before and have zero experience in terms of negotiating contract details. I'm just wondering what are some key things I should negotiate (especially as a new grad)? Or are my options limited because my job is part of a union? And speaking of the 1199 union, is there anything I should clarify with regards to being part of 1199. I d

Can anyone who was accepted confirm this?

    Certifications

Hey everybody, need some advice regarding certifications? I currently have my EMT-B license, and accumulated about 1400 hours thus far. By the next application cycle around may, I'm anticipating around 1800 hrs. I was considering getting my EKG/phlebotomy certification, because it happens to work great with my school schedule and it'll only take a month to complete. That being said, I will most likely not be getting any health care hours from those jobs come application time. So ultimately all I will be doing is adding two extra certifications on my resume with no experience. Obviously it can'
  10. Thank you so much for the reply. Very encouraging information!
  11. Yea i think I'm just going to go with original plan and apply late april/early may. Thanks for the help!
  12. Thats exactly what I was thinking. I think me waiting would do more harm than good because then as i mentioned before, my gpa might drop. I think you both clarified my decision for me. Im definitely going to go with original plan and submit late april/ early may. Thanks for the help!
  13. Hey everyone! So ill be applying to PA schools next cycle and i need some advice. Its been recommended by many people to apply early, especially for those schools with rolling admissions. Now since CASPA usually opens in mid to late april, my original plan was to submit my application then. Hopefully be all done by end of april. At that time ill have all my requisites done and expect to have a 3.85 cum gpa and around a 3.75 sci gpa with about 1600-1700 hours of health care experience. During the spring im taking classes that are just part of my major requirement but not needed for pa school. C
