  1. You're page should be fine, since your class is 2018. You'll want to sync up with the 2 yr track that starts next year. The way admin explained it to me is: "This group is for everyone in the 2017 class, 3 and 2 years. As you guys start clin med and merge with the 3 year class of 2017, you will find that its better to have one group where you can all share things with instead of 2 separate groups"
  2. I recently spoke with the 3 year track (Class of 2017) FB page admin and she suggested that the 2 year track not have a seperate page. So I deleted the one I created.........figured we can always create one again later if it makes sense. Below is the link for the older of the two pages https://www.facebook...84716188259634/

  4. So after speaking with a member of the three year track class of 2017, they confirmed that the current FB group is geared more so for them. She suggested I create our own page and said usually someone from each class volunteers to be the admin. I don't mind doing it for now (or indefinitely) unless someone else has an overwhelming desire to take it over:) Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/UofDMPAClass2017/

  6. I dm'd the admin of the FB page for what I'm assuming is the 3 year track class of 2017 page.......I'll post what she replies:)
  7. I know there is already a Class of 2017 FB group, but it looks like it was started by the 3 year program students who started last August.....https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=684716188259634&tsid=0.16141547146253288&source=typeahead I dm'd the UofD PA Program fb page asking if they create a page for classes and they said: "That is usually done by the individual classes......so probably sometime in the fall semester when your class officers are picked." We do have the listserver email address they gave us in the PA Orientation Packet email they sent out last week, it was in
  8. I honestly haven't looked into it that much as of yet.....originally I had planned to wait and see how much my award was before I went looking for additional aid. However, if I'm not getting that number until July I'll probably look into private lenders sooner. I did speak with a friend who is in B2B banking who gave me some food for thought: It's really all about the interest rate and term of the debt, right? If you can get lower payments through private funding and over a certain amount of years that you're comfortable with, then that is what matters. I know that federal loans don't
  9. Has anyone else called and spoke with the Financial Aid office? I called this morning using the number they provided in the acceptance letter, 313-993-3350. The woman on the phone said we wouldn't be receiving our award information until the orientation, July 15th. Does this seem a bit late to anyone else? Prior to being accepted to UofD I had planned to attend a program in Philadelphia and they sent my financial aid award information right away. The award didn't come close to covering all costs, but they were giving us plenty of time to find private lenders to supplement the
  10. I will be starting my PA program in August (2015) and finishing up in August (2017). I know I have some time but I was hoping I could get some advice and direction on what I should do in the next couple of years so that I'm a desirable candidate for residency programs when the time comes. I've reviewed a number of the residency webpages and for the most part they list the basic requirements: graduate or be in 2nd year of ARC-PA accredited program, MS degree, >3.4 GPA, eligible to sit or have passed PANCE, personal statement essay, etc.. Beyond the above is there anything I can do to
  11. CASPA GPAs: Cum Undergrad-3.48 Post Bacc-3.95 GRE: 301 (Verbal and Quantitative together), 4 (Analytical) Shadowing: 25-40hrs HCE: 3,320-4,040hrs (paid), 180-204hrs (unpaid) Volunteer Hours: 246-260hrs Health Certs: BLS/CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers, Certified Nursing Assistant through state of Michigan LOR: RN/BSN (my boss), PA-C/MS, PA-C/MS (I work with both and both were the PAs I observed for shadow hours) *If you're specifically asking about UofD Mercy's program as far as their science prereqs went I had a 3.98 *My Post Bacc is my science GPA, I have BBA so I had to start from square
  12. For what it's worth: I was recently accepted into their 2 yr program (Class of 2017) and at the time I submitted my CASPA (September 2014) I had 25 hours of shadowing experience. By the time I submitted my supplemental application/resume (Februrary 2015) and interviewed (March 2015) I had 40 hours. A few of the other programs I was applying for either required it or strongly encouraged it. During my interview for UofD Mercy they did not ask about my shadowing experience, but that could have been because it was listed on my resume as part of the supplemental application. Also that's
  13. sid......I rent in Ferndale. It's a safe area close to school. 9 mile and Woodward (Ferndale) is a great area with more economical choices then some of the other suburbs. If you have any questions about any areas feel free to dm me.
