  1. Received my acceptance email at 1:34 PM today!!! This was my third year applying to PA school with only rejections until today. This program was the only one to give me a chance. I am so honored. Please keep persevering if becoming a PA is your dream! And congratulations to those who have also been accepted! Wishing the best for those on the wait list!

  2. Hey everyone, I was unsure if I should say anything, but I think you all have the right to know. Dr. Beth Smolko is leaving the program in February. Along with Dr. Smolko, we have another faculty member leaving in the beginning of February. I'm not here to pass my opinion or thoughts on the changes in the program, but as prospective students, I think this is important to know. If I were in your situation, I'd want someone to tell me. Use this information as best as you can and good luck to everyone still waiting for an acceptance!

  3. I would disagree! If you received the email and have ALREADY interviewed there is still plenty of hope. It’s apparent since the aforementioned email was sent to all applicants before the interviews taking place on the 7th of January. I believe at the end of the month they’ll send acceptance emails to their top 100 (which obviously some have been chosen) and then waitlist the next top 50-75. In my interview I saw them jotting down small notes - probably scoring all the applicants. I’m imagining the folks who have already got acceptance letters received a score above a certain threshold.

  4. Y'ALL! I interviewed 12/01 and I thought it went HORRIBLY, so I was super shocked when I got the acceptance call and email while I was at work. I can't wait to meet everyone in the class! Does anyone know if there's already a facebook page or something along those lines?

  5. Right? I was pretty confident I liked them before, but the interview convinced me I'm going if they make the offer. I thought it was a very friendly interview environment, with a good program culture and a strong focus on service. The group of interviewees seemed like a lot of fun as well! Here's to hoping we all make it

  7. From looking at the previous year's forums, it looks like they started offering acceptances to those waitlisted around January 10 so hopefully next week, we'll start to hear something?

  8. I received an email from Desiree on Monday that they would be reviewing applications this month and extending interview invites via email if selected! I believe there are only 9 seats filled from their first round of interviews.

  10. Hi everyone! I reached out to Leslie and she said that a FB group will be created once they fill all of their seats for the CO 2023. Congrats again to those accepted and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back/preparing to interview this month

  11. Do not wait! I applied to 19 programs with approximately 1500-2000 hours of scribing experience (no other hard PCE) and got 15 interviews. Shoot your shot. You may lose $1000 if you apply and don't get in, but weigh that against a $90,000 year of salary if you could have gotten in but didn't because you waited. I didn't list any certifications.

  16. They have been working on it for 2 years. OTP is about, among other things, eliminating state mandated supervision in favor of privileges and utilization being determined at the practice level. It also included direct reimbursement, having our own boards and a couple of other things. Since OTP became policy several (I have lost exact count) states have eliminated state mandated supervision. This work is being done by the state orgs with AAPA support. Time to join AAPA and your state society. You might also consider a donation to the PAC

  17. I feel ya! I have only ever been waitlisted in three years of applying I was also waitlisted but removed myself from the WL because I accepted a seat at another program that I was also on the waitlist for! Waitlist is not a no felt so lame to hear in the past, but it came true for me so have hope y'all! MGH put together a great group of interviewees that I loved getting to know at our pre interview Zooms and hope to keep in touch with as we all continue through this process together!

  21. I also think that this sounds like a pretty good job offer for a new grad. You mentioned interest in doing a residency, so why don’t you treat this like a well paid residency? Spend 5-10 hours a week of your own time to stay late to get a procedure, go to resident lectures, let it be known that you would love to observe procedure workshops and sim labs. Once you show up to observe, you will be asked to jump in and participate. In general, attendings in academic centers enjoy teaching so if you show the incentive to go above and beyond, they will reward you for it.

  22. Part of the answer depends on where you are and the associated cost of living. I wasn't getting this much at my final gig after 36 years, though there were some cush bennies which made up for it.

  26. I got my second dose the 0930 on 1/6, it's 0450 on 1/7 and I'm huddled in my office feeling like I got beat with a fairly large stick. Alternating APAP and ibuprofen. Probably running enough of a fever that they wouldn't let me back in if I left now. With that being said...science is absolutely amazing, what a historic time to be alive. Just wouldn't recommend timing your 2nd dose on day 1 of 4

  28. Are waitlist spots ranked? Has anyone asked for their position on it? How many are generally accepted from it? Any information about this would be great!! Nerves are a little high right now Good luck everyone!

  29. I don’t think anyone has yet Kinda wish they would send the full applicant pool any little email update, since we were told we’d start hearing about interviews in December. Strange times for sure.

  34. I interviewed on Monday and had a great experience! Only lasted about 1.5 hours. They showed us a virtual tour of campus and then we interviewed with 2 faculty members. The interview only took about 30-45 minutes and they made me feel very relaxed! I can tell they are going to be a great program and I’m excited to hear back

  35. Tibial tuberosity fracture type 2B (3B?). Call ortho for ORIF. NWB in cast for 4-6 weeks. Rehab for 3 months. Alternatively - give them Motrin and tell them to change their socks.

  40. ugh document, document document send emails to HR clearly stating the lack of coverage and your contract stating that the employer provides coverage they are likely not going to care - but if you create enough of an issue they might send a reply letter document document document any loss you might have (getting named in a suit) would open up the employer to liability as they did not provide malpractice for you per the contract - either way they are going to cover you live and learn. have your own policy CMF is expensive!

  41. I received my official acceptance today as well I have been at work so plan to submit a deposit tomorrow. Haven’t logged onto the portal yet but are there multiple payment options for submitting the deposit? Also, if anyone knows the link to the program’s intranet page that would be amazing! I am just trying to explore housing options early.

  44. I know a lot of people will recommend waiting until you have more experience. I’m more of-take the chance and try if you meet a school’s admission criteria, you’re application is competitive for those schools, and it would not be a financial hardship.

  48. Group Health was a really good place to start doing exams, especially well child/teen exams, because everything was loaded into EPIC for you--just bring up the template and run it. One of the things I think people skip over in sports physicals is anticipatory guidance. About 50% of my time, maybe a bit more, is spent in counseling *after* the history review and physical exam. One thing that I offer each teen patient is that if they're ever in a car with a driver who is texting and driving, and the driver won't put away the phone or pull over when asked to do so, is that they are to gr
