  6. All the nerves for nothing. First ever interview in the books today. Although I still would prepare for this school's interview, it was really fun actually. Just like you were talking nonchalantly. I think this was a perfect interview for my first one.

  7. Anyone know when they send out ranks for waitlist or from previous cohorts how many people get waitlisted?

  9. Adding to @ScullyAMA: I believe the fourth cycle includes individuals that went under review in mid/late July. A few of us received calls on Aug. 7th, letting us know that it would be 2-3 weeks before we receive a decision ( interview invite or rejection). It's been about 4 weeks since I went under review, and next week will be the start of the week 3 follow up call. I hope we ALL receive some exciting news, including the current round of interviewees. Fingers crossed! Only 35 students have been accepted this cycle based on the 2023 cohort FB page, which means there are 37 opportunities left

  11. Hi Everyone, I was recently offered an interview and reached out to Gina to see if I could get on the cancelation list to move up my November interview date. I received an email from the admissions director that said I could share so there is no confusion as to how the interview process is taking place this year. I hope this helps! It has come to my attention that once you schedule you can not see the rest of the list. That is different and I didn't realize that - so checking back often you won't see anything. Also, there isn't a wait list - as we wanted to try to be fair for every

  12. Last year was August 28th from the forums. That’s what I’m considering late August. They won’t tell us the specific date of interview invites.

  13. Hey! I live in Knoxville, and it is the most incredible city. You will love it! South College is about 20 minutes from downtown where there are so many yummy places to eat and fun activities - I would recommend checking out Market Square. The college is also only 5 minutes or so from Turkey Creek which is a huge shopping center and food place. As far as outdoor recs: Ijams has a beautiful quarry and some neat hiking trails!

  16. Any EM position is going to be difficult to find at the moment in the post COVID timeframe. I'd recommend a residency unless you have strong prior HCE in EM (ED Tech, paramedic, ED RN). NSx experience won't hurt you necessarily, other than you won't be thinking in the EM mindset. Your differentials are going to float away, skills etc. Not impossible by any means, people make the transition all the time, but if you want the best chance, go the residency route.

  17. Hey Mmram, Sorry I missed this question. An example (not the actual question) might be ... Do you believe that most homeless people have drug and alcohol problems? or Do you believe that individuals who commit domestic abuse are bad people? Again, I emphasize these are not the questions I was asked, just similar "for example" questions. I believe the point of these type of questions is to see if you will be genuine. The interviewers can see through BS a mile away. I also believe the key to answering these questions is to know your personal values, to be

  18. Essay first, then panel interview/ Q&A. I was actually one of the last to interview so I was in the Q&A for an hour and a half before I had my interview. They take people five at a time to interview while everyone else stays in the lobby to talk to current students.

  24. Well I received an email that my application was received. But I did not receive an email saying I've been moved onto the "secondary review" or whatever. And I definitely haven't gotten a rejection OR interview. So it's like I'm dead in the water right now.

  28. I have been told by NP colleagues that the courses added to get NPs to DNPs are academic courses, research based, etc. They are not clinical courses to get a doctorate level clinical education, which would be that of MDs/DOs. They can call themselves doctors in an academic environment all they want, but don't think they should be allowed to call themselves doctors in a clinical setting to patients.

  29. Hi everyone! Just received my invitation, which was especially great because I received a rejection email from another school right around the same time. Very surreal moment but shows that when one door closes another one can open. Super excited for the interview, and signed up for the waitlist for the October 30th interview session. If I don't eventually get in to the earlier session (crossing my fingers that I do, or earlier if possible), I'll be in the last interview group which I believe is November 20th, as it was the only one that was available. Best of luck to everyone!

  30. @RueRue95 @KortneyDaly Dang you guys, so sorry to hear about your news today. It’s always hard to have someone tell you no when you know how hard you’ve worked and what you’ll bring to the field. Kortney you have been so positive here and on other threads and I know you’ll make an amazing PA wherever you end up!

  31. I contacted CMU because I won't be taking my test until August 21st. They said they will consider the application without the scores. You just have to make sure you take the PA-CAT before May 2021.

  40. After much thought, I will be giving up my interview spot on August 26th after being accepted to one of my top schools. I was so elated to even get an interview from Touro NV and wish I had the opportunity to meet a few of you exceptional individuals. I wish the upcoming cohort nothing but success and I hope that someone gains an interview seat from this decision Best of luck!

  45. Hey everyone! I was looking through the UEPA social media and I spotted a post that gave a little more insight on when they plan to give out interviews. “We are SO EXCITED to put out 100 interview invites for our Class of 2023 cohort. Our goal is to send these the week of August 10 ! ️” Thought I should share this with everyone here since it seems like we’re all pretty anxious/excited. The post was from 3 days ago by the way. Still excited and hopefully get to meet everyone on here soon!

  46. Beware of the state medical boards.... In Texas, the Texas Medical Board has stated that a telemedicine provider is held to the same standard as a provider who does an in-person exam. For example, telemed complaint about abd pain that is a missed appy case means disciplinary action against the PA, despite the fact that you couldn't examine their abdomen.

  49. Respectfully, I am glad it's difficult to gain admissions to in careers where you have a very huge impact on people's lives and well-being. That said, it IS very difficult to get into PA school, and for good reason. If you cannot earn a decent score on the TOEFL, you probably should not be practicing in English. There are a few PA schools elsewhere but in general, the PA profession is an American invention, and the availability of programs reflects that. I am sure you are a good clinician with all your experience, but you'll need to, at minimum, improve your English so that you can earn a good

  50. My only HCE when applying for PA school was working as a medical scribe. I applied to 15 schools (overkill, I know), and was offered interviews to 12. I was careful with my research and reached out to programs I was interested in to see if they accepted scribing hours if it was not already expressly stated on their website. There were also some programs that did not require HCE. You can PM me if you want the list of programs I applied to!
