  1. Past hour
  2. Received an acceptance call from the director yesterday (7/22) as well! So excited! Congrats to everyone else and good luck to the other applicants. Does anyone know when the deposit is due? I was in shock and forgot to ask the important questions
  3. I suggest Magoosh. I used Kaplan books the first time I took mine and didn't do so great (298). The second time I prepared with only Magoosh and my total score went up by 7 points.
  4. I'm interviewing 8/5 as well. Hope to see you there!
  5. Thanks for the response, Charlotte. I haven't done the walk ins yet but sounds like if there is potential in that then I should get on it. I am open to commuting out of state, but my only qualm is that I do not have licenses yet in those states (NH, RI, CT), and wonder if it is worth my time to apply (ie will I be considered) if I don't have a license. It would be pretty expensive for me to apply for their licenses upfront without a secure job prospect in the future. Thanks!
  6. Today
  7. Ahh thank you everyone!! Got the verification email at 6:15 this morning, thankful that waiting is over! Now to wait until schools start getting back to me...
  8. That's a pretty low science gpa and overall gpa. You might want to try taking new science classes to boost your gpa and shoot for all A's
  9. I actually have my certification and I'm still having trouble finding a job. All the jobs here want you to already have some experience as a MA. Like jeez just give me chance. Idk how people have found jobs without needing a certification, I've been looking at MA jobs for months and have yet to come across one that doesnt require certification.
  10. Hi all! I interviewed on July 12th and I haven't heard back yet. I was wondering if anyone else has heard anything yet!? Good luck to everyone!
  11. Have you gotten your email for an interview yet?
  12. Would those people who are being accepted for an interviews/rejected mind sharing their stats, please! I found this program late in my application cycle and am planning to apply to East Falls and Center City this Friday but am nervous maybe it’s too late???
  13. Hi there thanks again for the info ! For the behavioral questionarre, would you say it was more of "think of a time/example" or was it more of "situational/ethical"?

  15. HOLY CRAP. Are you joking me? You are the ONLY one for a good chunk of the day? In all honesty I can't even fathom that. So you're running codes, sticking in chest tubes, intubating, starting pressors...by yourself? One thing I lack as a PA less than four years out is critical care skills. Even though I work in the ER...I never have to do that stuff because the docs do it. I legit can't imagine. How long have you been a PA? Thanks, everyone, for the responses. Never thought about working in a lower volume facility but it sounds tempting and maybe worth the drive...
  16. Most of these positions are found in Urgent Care Centers. I did it for 3 years for PA school PCE experience...life happened and I pursued a different opportunity. Submit your applications and during the interview, state you're a fast learner who is willing to put in the work to excel in this new position. Good luck!
  17. The average ER provider sees something like 1.7 pts an hour. I think 3 is safe. 4-6 you can't convince me you aren't missing a lot of things. When I hear peopl seeing 4-6 ER patients I think they must be crappy. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  19. I am having a hard time finding positions available for a medical assistant without certification. I’ve heard PA students were lucky enough to find ones that offer onsite training. How can I find an opportunity like this? Is it though connections? Or should I go to small clinics or urgent cares and ask them if they are willing to train me on the spot? Is it common for clinics to hire recent college graduates without certification for a medical assistant position?
  20. Join SEMPA (sempa.org) SEMPA members have free access to the EM Academy course. 71 30-minute video lectures on the core content of emergency medicine. 21. Having been a hiring manager at a Fortune 100 company, you will have no problems getting interviews or getting hired absent things like felonies or expulsions. Qualified STEM minority females can command quite substantial salaries in large organizations, because they can get the job done and help EEOC numbers ultimately reducing the number of minorities who are hired solely to balance EEOC numbers and have little to no actual benefit to an organization's mission. I would expect $5-10k over what an "average" new graduate PA would get, assuming you successfully complete PA school, as well as being de facto immune to firing, again absent board reprimands or malpractice suits. If you happen to be particularly GOOD, as well as being an underrepresented minority, there's very little limit to what corporate practices will do for you. Don't expect this to apply in small practices--they aren't on the EEOC's radar, so provider representation won't matter as much to them. Go look at any program's PA class photo: it's a sea of white women, with the occasional male or Asian thrown in. Most programs would LOVE to add a single smiling black face to that substantially monochrome image. So yes, being Jamaican is going to be an advantage for getting into PA school and for hiring. At the same time, yes, you WILL experience racism, because some will assume you ONLY got the position because of your race and sex. Patient perceptions are just as irrational as you would expect; I never get pushback on anything, because I'm an almost-fifty white dude with greying temples: I fit their stereotype of what a good provider "should" look like, regardless of whether I am any good or not. For some patients, you will not, again, regardless of your actual skill. This may vary based on the demographic you work with, of course. Best wishes!
  22. I submitted on the 17th and was verified the 22nd.
  23. Is working as an uncertified MA more valuable than working as a ophthalmic assistant/scribe? The MA position seems to be about 50% admin duties as well. The position at the ophthalmology clinic has better pay and benefits so I am leaning towards that but obviously my main priority is to gain experience that best strengthens my application.
  24. Does anyone know how many people have been accepted / wait listed so far?
  25. Can anyone shed light on the interview? Thank you!
