  1. Are either of you still in town for the conference? As a soon-to-be graduate, it would be nice to meet up between sessions, if possible.
  2. After EMBasic, but before FOAMCast, consider CrackCast, which goes through Rosen's Emergency Medicine chapter by chapter. Pound for pound, it has provided me with the best EM instruction.
  3. Maypa and Armand81, what textbooks/resources would you recommend for a new grad in general surgery/trauma? Emergency Medicine has Rosen's and Tintinalli's. ICU has texts like Marino and the Ventilator Book. Roberts and Hedges covers lots of EM and acute care procedures. A while back a surgery gave me a copy of Schwartz but sometime this feels like the material it covers is too summarized.
  4. Its really quite impressive to see what the CrackCast guys have done with Rosen's Emergency Medicine over the last several years. Is there anything like this for General Surgery? Which texts could be considered CORE surgery (not counting orthopedics)? Is Schwartz too cursory?
  5. True. But isnt the thread title misleading? brandonhughey and other are indeed PA applicants. aspiring__PA and other are accepted PA applicants. 60 pages of a ill-titled thread might be enough. Would be better to start a new thread.
  6. At this point, call CASPA and inquire. There might be a problem, there might not be.
  7. brandonhughey, dont stress about the GRE score. Your combined total is above 300 and that is what matters. The GRE is generally used as a metric by which programs can make necessary first round cuts. They will look to see whether you meet the minimum required GRE score just like they will look for minimum gpa and healthcare hours. Your stats are good enough to get interview invitations. The thing you (myself included) should work in is obtaining more direct patient care hours. Good luck on the interviews.
  8. Job well done SN. Thanks for paving the way for those of us interested in pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine. Good luck with the job hunt.
  9. And the manner in which CASPA deals with these problems is not helpful. The course subject errors are virtually permanent, but course description notes can be added to each item identified. So each school can look at these comments, but it does not change the actual course subject or the GPA category that I care about the most. For example, I took a Psychology Integration course (psychology and philosophy integration) that should have been categorized as a biological psychology course, but was listed as "Special Topics". So because I paid for a professional to do this for me, I have lost 4 "A" graduate psychology (behavioral science) units. Pretty disappointed in this turn of events. Anyone have any suggestions?
  10. Submitted 6/15 Professional Transcript Entry Completed 6/18 ( Resubmitted 6/18 Verified 6/21 *** 12 Errors made by the transcript entry service. I am still waiting to have these corrected.
  11. danikiz, call CASPA. They will sort it out.
  12. tuxedosheep, as it turned out, the professional transcript entry service only took 3 days to turn it around. They also made some errors on mine. I called the CASPA customer service and they took down some notes about the items that I found to be incorrect--all simple fixes, really. While on the phone with customer service, I reviewed and resubmitted my application. Now its in their hands. Apparently, there is one more editing/evaluation step in the verification process that allows them to correct mistakes made by the professional entry service. After that, once your application is verified, you can email CASPA directly from the application by clicking the blue question mark button while on the transcript entry page and explaining the problems that need to be fixed. Customer service said that this method would expedite the process.
  13. I submitted my application earlier this morning (June 15) at 1:25am. I decided to have three of my longer transcripts professionally entered to ensure accuracy. Did any one else use the professional entry service? I know it can take up to 10 business days, but does any one know long it extended the processing/verification time for their application?
