Moderator EMEDPA Posted December 3, 2010 Moderator Share Posted December 3, 2010 Will the fellows have the opportunity to manage ICU pts and learn skills such as central line placement, thoracentesis, etc? looks likre a nice program but I would like to see an icu/critical care rotation in there somewhere and maybe have ems as an optional elective. many of us were prior paramedics and won't get much from a required ems rotation... All common ED skills will be learned, so yes to that. In our ER we have ICU pt everyday. You may also go to ICU while on Medicine or SICU while on SX. dukefan
NSilva, Thanks for the post. Prior to PA school I worked in the Southern California EMS and ED system for a couple years. It would be great to return to the area. Thus, I will be sending my application in within the next few weeks. I know the program is still relatively new but I was curious how many applicants you have gotten in past years.
