Sarahho
Hey everyone, So I am really interested in UC Davis' PA program. However, I'm currently a 3rd year philosophy student @ UCLA. I have tried contacting Davis but have not had any luck with getting a response. Does any know if there's any way I could still get into Davis' program with a philosophy major? (of course all of my prerequisites will be completed at the time of application) I just found it odd that UC Davis requires a degree in a health-related field whereas USC and Western will take any BA degree as long as prerequisites are met. Thanks for reading/responding  , Sarah
Nick act
I was a criminal justice major and have recently been accepted to PA school. I completed the required pre reqs, did EMT school and spent as much free time as I could in hospital setting to get hours. Your major isn't that important as long as you have a bachelors degree. GREEN
Your major isn't that important as long as you have a bachelors degree. I'm not sure you were accepted to UC Davis or another PA school. She was referring to the PA Program at UC Davis which requires "A bachelor’s degree in a health-related field*" according to its website: http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/fnppa/admissions/req-edu-require.html
FierceDeityMomo
I was just accepted into UC Davis for the FNP/PA program, and I would just assault them with e-mails until you get a response. All of the students that I know who were recently accepted do have degrees in biology, nursing, or some other science type field, but I'm not sure if that is everybody. You can always try calling them if they are not responding through e-mail. With the program just starting up as an M.S. program, I know they are super busy getting back to anybody. J PA App
I was wondering the exact same thing and have yet to hear back from them via email. If you do happen to find anything out, please let me know. I will do the same for you if I resolve the question! Good luck!
aliss929
Did anyone ever receive an answer about this? I have also emailed with the same question, but still, no response.
ykieu
Hi everyone! I asked a current PA student at UCD if all of their classmates have health related Bachelor's and they said that they have a variety of different Bachelors. Hope this helps even-though the deadline already passed.
Z PA-C
I would recommend calling Davis to ask them about this requirement. They are not so good at responding to questions via email.
Deanj59
Don't know if this still relevant to the past discussion, but it appears the "health related major" has been removed: http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/nursing/education/education_pa_degree_program.html I would double check before spending the time applying next cycle though. rpackelly
From their FAQs Q. What if I hold a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a non-health-related field; am I still eligible to apply to the nurse practitioner or physician assistant programs?A. Yes. The School of Nursing reviews all qualified applicants.
