orielee
Anyone with information concerning loan forgiveness for PA in neurology. Really enjoy the field primarily working with MS patients whichis very rewarding. Would be very disappointing to leave due to finances.
benny32311
I know for the national loan forgiveness through the NHSC is for primary care specialties only. You also would have to work in an officially sanctioned under-served area.
jmj11
I couldn't imagine a loan forgiveness program tailored to neurology per se (and I've worked in neurology for most of 30 years). Maybe, as mentioned, any work in an under-served area. Or, you could talk to an employer about loan repayment as a benefit.
orielee
Could you please direct me how to find areas under-served in Pittsburgh.
Moderator ventana Posted August 30, 2013 Moderator Share Posted August 30, 2013 can't see how they would've lower loan forgiveness in the specialty. if money is the issue you need to talk to your employer, possibly they were doing private loan forgiveness. I have heard them doing this before in different facilities.
Guest jb555
Look up the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Make on-time federal (unfortunately this doesn't count for private) payments for 10 years and as long as those 10 years were spent at a nonprofit/hospital/etc, the rest is forgiven.
