PANRE Review Course

My preceptor, aPA for 20 years, practiced in FM for 17, now doing GYN attends the 3-day in Chicago every year as her main source of review. She swears it's the best conference she's ever been to. Stresses it's review and not for the PANCE, but she's reiterated to me at least four times how much she appreciates that specific conference. FWIW.

Good to hear that she likes the 3 day course. I'm considering taking the 3 day course (vs the 5 day course) in December or january. After 30 years of practice as a PA I can use the review but also have to take boards again in 2013. I've heard good things about the 5 day course.... don't think the 3 day course has been around all that long so it's not a surprise there haven't been any comments specifically about it.

I've signed up with CME Resources for a 3 day course in Jan in Chicago area. Hopefully it's OK, can't imagine sitting through 5 days of that. A co-worker went to a 3 day course with Certified Medical Educators and passed the boards without difficulty (we are both in IR so we practice little medicine).

Hey Everyone!

I'm following this thread with interest because I am looking to see what will be the PANRE review course that will the right fit for me. When I took my PANCE I attended the 5 day CME Resources Course and was successful with my PANCE (I also studied 3 other review books).

My question for those who have attended the 3 day course - did you like it? How does it compare with the 5 day?

Also, has anyone tried this http://cme4life.com/shop/categories/board-review-course/ ? And what were your thoughts?

Anyone reviewed for the PANRE on their own and just used review book? Which ones did you feel were the best?

I tok the 3 day reveiw course in chicago last month thru CME resources.Very rushed with the speakers doing little more than reading some slides.I also failed the panre after taking it 3 times thru my career of 18 years. would not recommend the 3 day version

Great :/ I'm sorry that happened to you. I"ve been taking this blasted test for 30 years and I'm more than a little tired of it. I'm surprised I passed it last time. There were so many questions that I had no clue about and the correct answer to the test question would have been "consult my supervising physician" and in reality my SP wouldn't have known the answer to those questions either and would have consulted a specialist. I'm already signed up for the 3 day course and it's this weekend so I'll just have to see how it goes. Cross your fingers for me!

Thanks for sharing your perspective on the 3-day course. I have signed up to take the 5-day course.

Has anyone done an online PANCE review course? I was trying to decide between the Kaplan video reviews or Hippo PA. Does anyone have an experience or feedback with either? I know my school provides the Emory board review for us the end of march but I wanted something to start in the mean time. Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I took the CME Resource 5 day course and I thought it was amazing.

I also took the HippoPA board review course and it was very good.

I'm selling both if anyone is interested, message me and I can give you more detail.

I'm selling the 5-day CME Resource course from January 2013 for $100

and HippoPA course which includes powerpoint lectures, mp3 audio lectures, and video lectures for $150.

Thanks.

Anyone else have any input on 3 Day Live PANRE review course vs. online courses?

Specifically:

Live Course: 3 Day CME in "Original Chicago course" vs. 3 Day Certified Medical Educators

(I see that CME includes EKG where Cert. Med. Ed. it's an extra $50!)

Online: UMDNJ vs. HIPPO-PA vs. Kaplan

Thanks ALL!!!

This is my 1st PANRE! I also need the best bang for my $$.

I received this email last night:

"Not going to lie, but at first I was seriously dreading sitting though 3 days of 10 hour classes. I thought, "there is no way I am going to stay awake, let alone learn anything after the first hour."  You totally proved me wrong! I loved the fun, interactive approach you had to teaching; and your mnemonics and stories to remember things are awesome, and are already making it much easier for me to retain information. I am so excited to listen to my CDs and open my flashcards (nerd. I know) but this is like Christmas in July for me! haha."

I love teaching people to master the concepts on the PANCE/PANRE.
